EuroPLoP 2016 - CALL FOR PAPERS
============================================================================================== 21st European Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs (EuroPLoP 2016) www.europlop.net Kloster Irsee, Germany, July 6-10, 2016 ============================================================================================== IMPORTANT DATES February 15, 2016: Paper submission deadline (EXTENDED DEADLINE) March 7, 2016: Shepherding starts April 25, 2016: Second draft due for review April 25, 2016: Submission deadline for focus groups May 9, 2016: Paper acceptance notification, Registration opens May 30, 2016: Closing date for early registration June 6, 2016: End of shepherding June 13, 2016: Conference draft version due July 6-10, 2016: Conference November 28, 2016: Proceedings version due EUROPLOP EuroPLoP is the premier European conference on patterns and pattern languages. EuroPLoP is focused on giving and receiving feedback. Instead of presenting, participants discuss contributions to provide authors high quality feedback for improving their publication: - Accepted papers will be published in the ACM International Conference Proceeding Series - Papers discussed at the conference also qualify for a submission to the Springer journal LNCS Transactions on Pattern Languages of Programming (TPLoP). EuroPLoP also accepts excerpts from PhD thesis or book projects. In the past, many book authors submitted parts of their work to get feedback from the pattern community. A UNIQUE CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE Share and learn: Patterns are an effective way to share knowledge about a domain. A pattern description generalizes multiple cases and reflects about regularities and forces driving the solution. The interdisciplinary topics of the conference provide new insights and inspiring ideas from other fields. Theory and practice: EuroPLoP attracts both, participants from academic and industrial contexts. It is a unique community of experts, researchers, practitioners and thought-leading people. The creative and constructive atmosphere is highly productive. High-quality feedback: All submissions will benefit from an iterative shepherding process prior to the conference. In this process, you receive feedback and suggestions for your work from an experienced pattern author. At the conference, your paper will be discussed by peers and experts from the same or related domains in a so-called Writer’s Workshop. Instead of giving yet another presentation, you get a lot of constructive feedback and comments that help to improve your paper. PATTERN PAPERS EuroPLoP accepts papers containing patterns or pattern languages, as well as experience reports and papers related to the theory and use of patterns. We encourage submitting patterns or pattern-related papers on all aspects of software, including the following topics: - Software engineering - Software architecture and design - Education and collaboration - Embedded systems - Web development and cloud computing - Mobile computing - Agile development and coaching - Software quality and verification - Requirements engineering - Protocols and standards - Business and organization - Distributed and service-oriented systems - Human computer interaction - and from other domains as well.. PAPERS ON APPLYING AND IDENTIFYING PATTERNS In addition to papers containing patterns and pattern languages, we also welcome papers on the use of patterns in industrial projects. They should stimulate a general discussion on how to utilize patterns more widely in practice. Please submit: - Reports on using patterns in projects, education and organizations - Scientific studies on patterns and pattern applications - Papers that present theoretical arguments about patterns - Empirical evaluations of patterns and pattern languages FOCUS GROUPS EuroPLoP is also looking for focus groups. If you want to propose a focus group, please write a short abstract and submit it through our submission system. You can also propose and experiment with other formats (e.g. fishbowls, collaboration sheets, six thinking hats). Please state shortly how you will organize your session, how much time is needed, and how many participants are required. Our focus group chair can support you in organizing and planning your focus group. SUBMISSION DETAILS Extended Submission deadline for initial papers: February 15, 2016 Submission deadline for focus groups: April 25, 2016 Submission format: ACM, single column, max. 10 pages If your paper is significantly longer than 10 pages or contains more than five patterns, please consider to split it up into several submissions. Papers with pattern languages may be longer than 10 pages, but writer’s workshops can only discuss parts of the larger work. We especially welcome papers that only contain one or two patterns. Please submit your paper here www.europlop.net/submission VENUE: Each year, EuroPLoP is held at Kloster Irsee, Klosterring 4, 87660 Irsee, Germany (http://www.kloster-irsee.de) CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION: Program Chair: Veli-Pekka Eloranta, Vincit Ltd, Finland, veli-pekka.eloranta (at) iki.fi Conference Chair: Christopher Preschern, Bernecker+Rainer, Austria, ch.preschern (at) gmx.at HILLSIDE EUROPE EuroPLoP 2016 is run by Hillside Europe e.V.
