** International Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing (BigComp 2014) **
Bangkok, Thailand January 15-17, 2014 http://www.bigcomputing.org ** Paper submission due: September 27, 2013 ** GOALS: Big data and smart computing are emerging research fields that recently draw much attention and interest in computer science and information technology as well as in social sciences and other disciplines. The goal of the International Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing (BigComp 2014), organized by KIISE (Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers), is to provide an international forum for exchanging ideas and information on current issues, challenges, research results, system developments, and practical experiences in these emerging fields. We strongly solicit high-quality original research papers and new work-in-progress reports in any aspect of big data and smart computing. RELATED TOPICS: The topics of interest for BigComp2014 include (but are not limited to): - Techniques and models for big data - Big data analytics and social media - Algorithms and systems for big data - Parallel and distributed computing for big data - Machine learning and AI for big data - Hardware/software infrastructure for big data - Databases and data mining for big data - Security and privacy for big data - Graph mining and opinion mining - Image/multimedia data management - Web search and information retrieval - Cloud and grid computing - Bioinformatics data management - Mobile communication and networks - Infrastructure and platform for smart computing - Smart devices and hardware - Models and tools for smart computing - Smart location-based services - Mobile smartphone applications - Mobile software and data science - Big data and smart computing Applications (health care, medicine, finance, business, law, education, transportation, telecommunication, science, engineering, ecosystem, etc.) SUBMISSION: Papers should be submitted as PDF files through EasyChair, http://www.easychair, which must be formatted to IEEE two-column format for conference proceedings. The direct link for paper submission is https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bigcomp2014. Papers can be submitted as either regular or short papers. Regular papers are limited to 4-6 pages and short papers limited to 2 pages. Details about the submission process including formatting instructions will be available at the conference website, http://www.bigcomputing.org. PUBLICATION: All accepted regular and short papers will be published in the conference proceedings. A set of selected papers will be recommended to the special issues of related international journals after revision and extension. BEST PAPER AWARDS: Best Paper Awards will be conferred at the conference to the authors of selected outstanding papers.
