The Acquisition of Tense, Aspect and Mood
Aston University Saturday 9th - Sunday 10th February 2008 Guest speakers Suzanne Schlyter (Lund) Rafael Salaberry (University of Texas at Austin) Aston University hosted in 2006-7 a 10-month Leverhulme Trustâ??s sponsored project â??Tense-Aspect Development in L2 Frenchâ??. This specialized thematic conference will mark its end and disseminates its findings. It will also bring together researchers who work worldwide in the areas of tense, aspect and mood acquisition in either first or second language acquisition. Although the organizing team has been working on L2 French only, the conference is by no means restricted to French, and papers about other languages â?? and especially less studied ones â?? are most welcome! No theoretical background will be privileged so that diverse and even conflicting theories, approaches and backgrounds may lead to fruitful discussions. The conference is open to renowned experts and established scholars, but also to young researchers and PhD students. Our aim is to create a synergy between experience and established research on the one hand, and enthusiasm and fresh ideas on the other so that our field as a whole benefits. Anonymous abstracts in English or French should be sent to e.labeau@aston.ac.uk by the 15th October 2007. Notifications of acceptance will be sent mid-November. It is hoped to publish a selection of peer-reviewed articles in Cahiers Chronos (Rodopi) that has expressed an interest in the project. Organising Committee: Emmanuelle Labeau & Christine Bozier Scientific Committee: Christine Bozier (Aston / Lund), Alex Housen (VUB, Brussel), Martin Howard (Cork) , Emmanuelle Labeau (Aston), Florence Myles (Newcastle), Clive Perdue (Paris 8), Rafael Salaberry (Austin), Suzanne Schlyter (Lund), Daniel VĂ©ronique (Aix). !!!
