Gartner Research has identified Cloud Computing as one of the top ten business technologies to watch for the past year years in a row. The successful introduction to technology to realize the dream of distributed computing architectures for small and midsized enterprises has made Cloud Computing important, but the question remains: Id Cloud Computing cost effective?

Unfortunately, the explosion of Cloud Service Providers in the market makes this question more difficult to answer. Multiple delivery models (i.e., public, private, hybrid) and service offerings (e.g., PaaS, SaaS, xaaS) further complicate the situation for IT executives. Separating the wheat from the chaff and establishing a Cloud Computing strategy that works for your enterprise is a daunting task.

Using the definition for Cloud Computing provided by the U.S. National Institute for Standards and technology (NIST), submit a short (5 – 7 pages) paper discussing the total costs, benefits, risks, and Return on Investment (ROI) of various Cloud Computing models, including (but not limited to) the following topics:

- ROI Comparison of Cloud Computing Delivery Models, Wireless Networks, and Sensor Networks
- Cloud Computing, Wireless Networks, and Sensor Networking for Government
- The Hidden Costs of Cloud Computing
- Security as a Service
- Testing as a Service
- Decision Support Frameworks
- Choosing a Cloud Computing Provider
- When does Cloud Computing Not Make Sense?
- A New Triple Constraint: Risk, QoS, and Total Ownership Costs
