CALL FOR PAPERS --------------- Special Issue of Journal of Network and Computer Applications on Advances in Simulation, Testbeds, and Application of Integrated Wireless Mesh and Sensor Networks http://www.elsevier.com/locate/jnca Scope: --------------- The Future Internet will be particularly characterized that daily objects and appliances will be networked and communication between anything at anytime is possible. To realize such a networked environment plenty of different kinds of networks have to interact and cooperate. In addition to cellular networks like GSM and UMTS new kinds of wireless networks, e.g., wireless sensor networks (WSN), wireless mesh networks (WMN), and wireless personal area networks (WPAN), will play an important role either as an integrator for locally available networks and services or as the perception organs of the Future Internet. Particularly, heterogeneous wireless networks will be in the focus of this research. This special issue will solicit original research papers that report recent advances in simulation design, experimental testbeds, and novel emerging applications of integrated wireless mesh and sensor networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: * Simulation models for WSN, WMN, and MANET * Simulation models for integrated WSN, MANET, and WMN * Parallel and distributed simulation * Cross-layer based simulation * Emulation versus simulation * Testbeds for WSN, WMNs and MANET * Testbeds integrating heterogeneous wireless networks * Validation, verification, and metrics for testbeds * Benchmarking and comparison of experiments * Testbed based vs. simulation based experiments * Interoperability of simulators * Multimedia applications * Healthcare applications * Smart homes and intelligent applications Submission Format: ------------------ The submitted papers must be written in English and describe original research which is not published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Author guidelines for preparation of manuscript can be found at www.elsevier.com/locate/jnca.
