The 25th Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence (UAI 2009)
June 18th - 21st, 2009, Montreal, Canada http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~uai2009 Preliminary Call for papers The 25th Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence (UAI 2009) will take place on June 19-21, 2009 in Montreal, Canada. UAI 2009 is co-located with ICML 2009 and COLT 2009, and will take place following ICML 2009 and concurrently with COLT 2009. There will also be a joint UAI/ICML/COLT workshop day on June 18th. We encourage submissions that report on theoretical or methodological advances in modeling, inference, learning and decision making under uncertainty. Submissions reporting on novel and insightful applications of these techniques within intelligent systems are also strongly encouraged. Examples of such application areas include, but are not limited to, computational biology, computer vision, speech processing, computational linguistics, information retrieval, medical systems, multi-agent systems, robotics, and sensor networks. IMPORTANT DATES * Monday, January 19th, 2009: Joint UAI/ICML/COLT workshop proposals due (see http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~uai2009/workshops.html) * Monday, February 2, 2009: workshop acceptance notification. * Friday, March 13th: UAI paper submissions due (11.59pm, US Pacific Daylight time) * Monday, March 23th: UAI student paper certification (11.59pm, PDT) * Monday, April 13th: Reviews available/author feedback period begins * Monday, April 20th: Author feedback on reviews due (11.59pm, PDT) * Friday, May 8th: UAI author notification * Friday, May 22nd: UAI camera ready copy of accepted papers due (11.59pm, PDT). * Thursday, June 18th: Joint UAI/ICML/COLT workshops * Friday, June 19th: Main UAI conference begins. PAPER SUBMISSION DETAILS UAI 2009 requires electronic submission of papers and abstracts according to instructions at http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~uai2009. This year, reviewing will be double-blind, so authors should take care not to review their identities in their submission. A submitted paper should not be under review by any other conference at the time it is submitted to UAI 2009 nor at any time during the reviewing period of UAI 2009. At the time of submission, a paper should also not have already been accepted for publication in a journal. PRESENTATION, PROCEEDINGS, and AWARDS Accepted papers will be presented at the conference in either plenary or poster sessions. At least one of the paper's authors should be present at the conference to present the work. All accepted papers will be included in the Proceedings of the Twenty Fifth Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence. The program committee will select papers for special distinction in two categories at UAI 2009: a "Best Paper" award, and a "Best Student Paper" award. The conference home page will contain instructions for certifying student status with regards to the latter award. ORGANIZATION General Conference Chair * David McAllester, Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTI-Chicago) Program Co-Chairs * Jeff Bilmes, University of Washington * Andrew Ng, Stanford University |
