The 39th Mechanisms and Robotics Conference is to be held as part of the 2015 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering Conference in Boston, MA from August 2-5, 2015. Sponsored by the Mechanisms and Robotics Technical Committee, an integral part of the ASME Design Engineering Division, this annual gathering as a series of 39 conferences since 1952 is a premier international meeting in mechanisms, robotics and related fields. The 39th ASME Mechanisms and Robotics Conference provides an international forum for the exchange of technical and scientific information on the theory and practice of mechanical systems and will feature tutorials and workshops, student mechanism and robot design competitions, keynote and invited speakers, and interactive presentation sessions. Topics will range throughout areas central to mechanical design including kinematics, dynamics, design, computation, robotics, reconfigurable mechanisms, novel mechanisms and robots, software systems, educational practices, and various applications as well as emerging areas such as origami-based engineering design. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program will be developed. Submitted papers will be eligible for a number of awards including the Mechanisms and Robotics Best Paper award, Freudenstein/General Motors Young Investigator award, A.T. Yang Memorial award, and Compliant Mechanisms Theory and Application awards. Likely topics include but are not limited to:
MR-1 Planar Mechanism Analysis and Synthesis MR-2 Spatial/Spherical Mechanism Analysis and Synthesis MR-3 Robot Kinematics and Motion Planning MR-4 Robot/Machine Dynamics and Control MR-5 Theoretical and Computational Kinematics (A.T. Yang Symposium) MR-6 Compliant Mechanisms and Micro/Nano Mechanisms (A. Midha Symposium) MR-7 Nature & Biologically Inspired and Health Motivated Mechanisms and Robotics MR-8 Novel Mechanisms, Robots and Applications MR-9 Mobile Robots and Cable-Driven Systems MR-10 Origami-Based Engineering Design MR-11 Software and Education in Mechanisms and Robots MR-12 Student Mechanisms and Robotics Design Competition Important Dates (Two-stage submission deadlines): Stage 1: Author and Paper Registration: January 12, 2015 Stage 2: Submission of Draft Paper or Brief for Review: January 26, 2015 Note: In order to submit a draft paper or brief for review at Stage 2, authors must first register and submit a tentative title and abstract at Stage 1.
