Please accept our apologies if you received multiple copies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers for Special Track on Emerging Topics Outside the Box of FCST 2011 http://trust.csu.edu.cn/conference/FCST2011/EmergingTopics/ Organizers: School of Information Science and Engineering & School of Software, Central South University, China Venue & Dates: Changsha, China, November 16-18, 2011 Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE and IEEE Computer Society CCF Technical Committee on Pervasive Computing CCF Technical Committee on Office Automation Original papers are solicited that describe emerging and especially *outside the box* topics for the 'Emerging Topics Outside the Box' Track within FCST 2011. Papers that discuss paradigm-shifting ideas, controversial issues, or a future beyond current technology are highly welcome. As a rough guideline, papers that fit typical technical conferences are not suitable for this track. The following directions may be interesting, although other directions are also welcome, as long as they are thinking outside the conventional box. - controversial technologies - emerging interdisciplinary research - human-centered computing and networking - new tasks for humans in human-involved networks - human channels and humans in the loop - human-centered computing and networking - future biometrics - radical identity management - new kinds of privacy e.g. for humans interacting with machines - new paradigms for computational modelling - social network based computations - novel solutions to open problems in critical infrastructure protection - new issues, problems and/or solutions for energy efficiency & green technology - economics modelling of new computer science problems Journal Special Issue Selected best papers from this track that are relevant to human-involved issues will feature in a special issue of the Future Generation Computer Systems journal [www.elsevier.com/locate/future] published by Elsevier (SCI & EI indexed; 2010 impact factor 2.229). Submission and Publication Information The accepted papers from this conference/special track will be published by IEEE Computer Society in IEEE proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP). Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system at the conference website. In the "Main topic" dropdown listbox, please make sure to choose "(15) Emerging Topics Outside the Box". Each paper is limited to 8 pages (or 12 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in two special issues to be indexed by SCI and EI. The program committee will select one winner for the Best Paper Award for this special track. Submitting a paper to the conference means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the conference and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from the IEEE Computer Society digital library after the conference and their affiliations will be notified.
