IEEE 2nd International Workshop on the Interrelations between Requirements Engineering & Business Process Management (REBPM)
in conjunction with the
23nd IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE’15)
24. August 2015

Goal of this workshop series is to analyze and discuss the interrelations between Requirements Engineering (RE) and Business Process Management (BPM) in order to get an understanding of their joint usefulness and mutual benefits in organizational-/process management and software development from both a research and practical point of view. Both domains are heavily interrelated, which is also demonstrated by overlapping use of concepts and artifacts. Business process modeling, for example, serves as an interface between both domains since the models combine knowledge about the business and the involved (software) systems. Methods and procedures vary between business architects and requirements engineers, although they try to achieve similar targets. A common understanding contributes to the development of aligned methods, shared models and tooling.

Emphasis of the 1st REBPM workshop at RE’14 was the development of an initial understanding on the various interrelations between RE and BPM concerning the three perspectives ‘role’, ‘process’ and ‘artifact’. Based on this initial understanding the 2nd REBPM workshop at RE’15 targets the development of a coherent and integrated picture by integrating the different perspectives and providing a starting point for future collaborations between researchers and practitioners on this topic.
