Fourth Workshop for Ph.D. Students in Information and Knowledge Management http://webdam.inria.fr/PIKM2011/ October 28, 2011 In conjunction with the ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management ACM CIKM 2011, Glasgow, UK, October 24-28, 2011 IMPORTANT DATES *Papers Due: July 22, 2011 at 23:55 Samoa time (2011-07-22, 23:55 UTC-11) *Submission site: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=acmpikm2011 *Notification of Acceptance: August 5, 2011 *Camera-ready papers: August 12, 2011 *Workshop: October 28, 2011 with the ACM CIKM 2011 Conference, Glasgow, UK THEME The goal of this workshop is to encourage Ph.D. students to present their dissertation research at a relatively early stage. The targeted students are those with a focus in any of the ACM CIKM research tracks, i.e., databases, information retrieval, or knowledge management. Interdisciplinary work across the three tracks is particularly encouraged. This workshop will enable graduate students to present their dissertation proposals and/or ongoing research on their dissertation sub-problems. It will give them an opportunity to get feedback on their early work from researchers worldwide. Accepted papers will be published in ACM CIKM Workshops proceedings which is published on the same CD as the ACM CIKM proceedings and online in the ACM Digital Library. The students of the accepted papers will give a talk on their dissertation in the workshop. This will give considerable recognition to their work. There will be an award for the best paper presented at the workshop. In addition to the papers selected for oral presentation, there will be a few more papers selected for poster presentation at the workshop. All papers will appear in the workshop proceedings. A short journal article summarizing the contents of the workshop is likely to be published in the following year. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS A wide range of topics on any area in databases, information retrieval and knowledge management can be presented at this workshop. The areas of interest are similar to those at the ACM CIKM 2011 main conference and can be found on the conference website http://www.cikm2011.org/. Papers should be maximum 8 pages in length in ACM CIKM format. The Ph.D. student should be the first author on the paper. The student's Ph.D. advisor, committee members and others may be co-authors. Please note that at least one author of each accepted paper is required to register for the PIKM workshop.
