Motivation and Scope:
The vision of e-Science is that computers, networks and emerging Web technologies become essential tools in many areas of science (e.g. particle physics, earth science, bio-informatics) allowing the exploration of previously unknown problems via simulation, generation and analysis of large amount of data, and global research collaboration. Grid computing is one of the major enabling technologies used to build the infrastructure, which involves using various distributed computing technologies such as SOA, collaborative computing, workflow, ontology and semantic Web to develop middleware, services and applications. Worldwide many e-Science, cyberinfrastructure, and Grid initiatives exist that have made significant progress in e-Science infrastructure, various implementations on computational resource management, data management, collaborative computing & workflow, middleware, and e-Science applications. It is therefore an appropriate time to document these research results and provide an outlook for the next step of e-Science, which will face additional challenging issues such as petascale data management, next generation Grid computing, global e-infrastructure and advance in virtualization technologies. Topics of this special session include, but not limited to: •concept, definition, architecture of e-Science •methods and framework in e-Science •e-Science infrastructure •Service Oriented Architecture in e-Science •resource management for e-Science •security in e-Science •novel e-Science/e-Engineering/e-Social applications •experience, case studies in large scale e-Science test-bed projects •next generation Grid computing and e-Science •collaborative computing and workflow •human computer interface issues in e-Science •Cloud computing Mode of selection of papers: The paper will be reviewed by 3 experts in Grid computing and e-Science according to the following criteria: •relevance, •originality, •significance, •correctness and quality of technical content, and •presentation Submission Guideline: Please submit your papers to submission.papers@googlemail.com with subject of “LAST NAME e-science special issue for cluster computing journal”, where LAST NAME is the surname of the corresponding author. The papers should follow the format of journal Cluster Computing and should not exceed 20 pages. |
