Call For Papers

3rd EAI International Conference on programmable and virtualized networks (PROGNETS)

Converged Networks in the Age of 5U

Dublin, Ireland - January 19-20, 2017

Conference web site: http://www.prognets.org

SCOPE

Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) is emerging as a technology capable bringing significant cost savings to network operators by allowing network functions to be turned into software and run over general purpose computing and networking infrastructures. In parallel Software Defined Networking (SDN) is enabling flexible, scalable, highly configurable, and reliable networks by leveraging on programmable data-planes and on a logically centralized control plane. Together SDN and NFV are bringing a dramatic wave of innovation in the wired and in the wireless networking domains raising interested among the academic and the industrial communities alike.

The fifth generation mobile network is set to be one of the business domain to benefit the most from SDN and NFV. Customer demand is in fact ever evolving and new technologies are emerging on a daily basis. As a result operators have to deal with higher capital expenditure at a time when the average revenue per user is decreasing. NFV can effectively support these new challenges by implementing 5G network function in software. Several research initiatives on 5G mobile networks have been launched worldwide targeting the definition of the next generation mobile networking ecosystem and the associated standards.

This conference aims at bringing together research and industry partners to present and discuss preliminary research results, ongoing work and experiences on the topic of software based, programmable converged networks and services.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Paper submissions must present original, unpublished research or experiences. Only original papers that have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere can be submitted. Each submission must be written in English, accompanied by a 75 to 200 words abstract that clearly outlines the scope and contributions of the paper.

There is a length limitation of 8 pages (including title, abstract, all figures, tables, and references) for regular conference papers, and 4 pages for short papers describing work in progress. Paper submissions must follow the SPRINGER formatting guidelines. Please refer to the Author's kit section for formatting and templates.

Papers need to be submitted through EAI 'Confy' system at Confy

PUBLICATION

The proceedings are submitted for inclusion to the leading indexing services: DBLP, Google Scholar, Thomson Scientific ISI Proceedings, EI Elsevier Engineering Index, CrossRef, Scopus, as well as ICST's own EU Digital Library (EUDL).

All accepted papers will be published by Springer and made available through SpringerLink Digital Library, one of the world's largest scientific libraries. EAI publishes Proceedings of all its events with Springer LNICST.

Best papers will be invited to publish also in the EAI Endorsed Transactions on Cloud Systems and in the EAI Endorsed Transactions on Internet of Things.
