Call For Papers | |||||||||||||||
Description:
Nowadays, embedded systems are omnipresent in homes, cars, cell phones, medical instruments etc. Embedded systems specifications usually impose very tight constraints with respect to cost, response time and power consumption, among other characteristics. They often include software, hardware and interfacing subsystems. Furthermore, the design of these kind of systems often requires concurrent optimization of several design objectives, which are conflicting in most of the cases. Also, these project call for the resolution of NP-hard problems. Their diversity and complexity require new design methodologies. This special issue aims to bring together research work in the area of soft computing techniques applications in embedded system design, investigate thenovel solutions and discuss the future trends in this field. Therefore, the Elsevier Applied Soft Computing Journal seeks original manuscripts on the following main (but not limited) topics for a Special Issue on Soft Computing in Embedded Design scheduled to appear in the second semester of 2012. Topics: • Automatic Specification of embedded systems using soft computing techniques; • Intelligent Profiling of embedded systems using soft computing techniques; • Synthesis of embedded systems using soft computing techniques; • Application mapping of many-cores based embedded systems using soft computing; • Communication routing in many-cores based embedded systems using soft computing; • Hardware/software partitioning using soft computing; • Security, privacy and intellectual property rights in embedded systems using soft computing; • Soft computing techniques implemented by embedded systems; • Integration with other embedded system design tools. Submission: Journal of Applied Soft Computing (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/asoc/) is indexed by SCI-E. The papers in PDF format should be submitted via the online system of the journal, available at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/asoc/. Concerning the preparation of the manuscript, please refer to the "Instructions for Contributors" page at the journal website. All papers will be rigorously reviewed by at least three reviewers based on the quality: originality, high scientific quality, organization, sufficient support for assertions and language usage. Criteria: • The significance of the work for the journal's audience. • The contribution the paper has made to the field; • The quality of the paper: original, high scientific quality, well organized and clearly written, sufficient support for assertions and conclusion, appropriate title, abstract includes important points of the paper, • Satisfactory English, pertinent and recent references, clear tables and figures; • Overall recommendation on the paper. • Optional confidential comments to the Editorial Committee Important Dates • Paper submission deadline: June 30, 2012 (If you intend to submit submit LoI with title and abstract to nadia@eng.uerj.br) • Notification date: October 30, 2012 • Camera-ready due: December 30, 2012 • Proof reading and publication date: March, 2013 Guest Editors Dr. Nadia Nedjah Associate Professor Department of Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil E-mail:nadia@eng.uerj.br Home Page: http://www.eng.uerj.br/~nadia/english.html Dr. Shiguo Lian Research Scientist France Telecom R&D (Orange Labs), Beijing, China E-mail: shiguo.lian@ieee.org Dr. Nader Bagherzadeh Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California, Irvine, California, USA E-mail: nader@uci.edu Homepage: http://www.eng.uci.edu/users/nader-bagherzadeh Dr. Luiza de Macedo Mourelle Associate Professor Department of Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil E-mail:ldmm@eng.uerj.br Home Page: http://www.eng.uerj.br/~ldmm Prof. Stefanos Gritzalis University of the Aegean, Greece Email: sgritz@aegean.gr Home page: http://www.icsd.aegean.gr/sgritz |
