Call for Papers
Journal of High Speed Networks Special issue on Green Networking and Computing The reduction and optimisation of the energy consumption and the environmental impact of GHG emissions are among the most important challenges facing our civilization and it calls for a significant research work to be carried out in the next years. It has been estimated that the global ICT energy consumption amounts to 7% of the entire electricity production while the energy requirements of data centers and network equipment are foreseen to grow with a yearly rate of 12%. Furthermore, with the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth, connection quality, and end-to-end interactivity, computer networks and mobile devices are requiring more and more sophisticated and power-hungry technologies. The Journal of High Speed Networks (JHSN) is soliciting papers for a Special Issue addressing all aspects enabling technologies for green networking and computing for scalable networks. This special issue will focus on contributions covering the full range of technologies from devices to systems and networks. Examples would be research on new interconnection networks that address the energy efficiency challenges and transform architectures towards energy-aware solutions at the network level, or analysis indicating reduction in energy consumption without significant loss in network scalability and performance. The aim of this special issue is to publish original research contributions on topics including, but not limited to the following: • Novel architectures addressing energy reduction in communication and computing networks • Enhanced sleep-mode technologies • Methods for energy measurements and energy models • Distributed control protocols for an improved energy efficiency • Green components for network energy savings • Novel power management techniques • New protocols for green wireless and wired networks Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to JHSN; see the Information for Authors in: http://www.iospress.nl/journal/journal-of-high-speed-networks/ Manuscripts must also be uploaded through JHSN's electronic submission system: http://mstracker.com/submit1.php?jc=jhsn. Please specify that the manuscript is for the Green Networking and Communications feature.
