BSEC 2010: Annual ORNL Biomedical Science and Engineering Conference:
Biomedical Research and Analysis in Neuroscience (BRAiN) May 25-26, 2010, Oak Ridge, Tennessee BSEC ImagesThe Biomedical Science and Engineering Center (BSEC) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is holding a conference, which we anticipate will become and annual event, on May 25-26, 2010 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. BSEC is the lead organizer/sponsor. The conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology and Biology Society (EMBS). Conference Theme: The Biomedical Science and Engineering Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is announcing its annual conference. This year's theme focuses on Biomedical Research and Analysis in Neurosceince (BRAIN). The goals are to: 1) identify the cross-cutting, interdisciplinary tools and applications needed by the medical and sceintific neurosceince communities in the areas of biomedical informatiocs, biomedical modeling and simulation and biomedical measurements, and 2) facilitate the dialog and collaborations necessary to solve critical problems. Specific areas of interest are brain injuries (both civilian and military) and neuro-regeneration, as well as related areas of neurosceince research. The overall intent of the annual conference is to become a catalyst for innovative problem-solving and collaboration across a wid spectrum of biomedical areas of the national interest. Papers and Posters are invited for the following topics, with specific emphasis on brain injuries and neuro-regeneration: * Biomedical Informatics – Data acquisition, integration, mining, accessibility; multi-modal data, computational tools applied to neuroscience of the brain * Biomedical Modeling and Simulation – predictive models, mechanistic models, statistical models, 3D and 4D simulations and visualizations, models of behavioral outcomes, etc. * Measurement Science – imaging tools and detectors, image processing, integration, diagnostic and detections devices, surgical and optical tools * Other neuroscience/neuroanatomy o Sensory Cortex: The somatic sensory, auditory, visual, and olfactory regions of the cerebral cortex considered as a group. o Retina ( independently from sensory cortex) Important dates to remember: Papers Due: February 28 (Midnight EST) Notification: March 24 Last Date for Foreign National Registration: March 31 Last date for Registration (US Citizens): May 10 |
