Call For Papers

Philosophers, neurophysiologists, psychologists and researchers within the cognitive sciences are warmly invited to attend the conference and to submit posters. The conference will be held at Simon Fraser University Harbour Center in Vancouver.

The focus of this conference is “colour beyond the retina”, both the normal neurophysiology of human cortical colour mechanisms and a variety of cortical colour ‘anomalies’, in particular:

Cerebral Achromatopsia
Colour Synaesthesias
Colour Blindsight
Cortical Colour Development

Early career researchers and graduate students are invited to apply for a two day intensive workshop held prior to the conference. There will be four separate tutorials, two a day, each led by prominent researchers in their fields, namely:

Philosophy of colour perception (Michael Tye and Alex Byrne)
Neurophysiology of cortical colour perception (Fred Kingdom)
Colour synaesthesias (Julia Simner)
Colour blindsight & cerebral achromatopsia (Charles Heywood and Richard Kentridge)

More information about poster submissions, workshop applications, conference registration and possible funding at www.sfu.ca/colour. The deadline for poster submissions and workshop applications is April 15th. The deadline for conference registrations is July 15th.
