Call For Papers

Conference venue
Found in 1979, The Palace of Conventions in Havana emerges as a specialized institution on high level events and congresses.

Scope and Aims
The International Conference on Informatics and Computer Sciences (CICCI’ 2013) will be held in Havana, Cuba, from 18th to 22nd March, 2013, within The 14th International Convention and Fair INFORMATICA 2013. CICCI’ 2013 is intended to be a Computer and Informatics researchers’ interchange forum and also a framework to debate and analyze the on-the-topic research results.
Among the main objectives for CICCI 2013 we have the interchange of novel results which are contributions to the knowledge on Informatics and Computer Science, to strengthen the researchers’ working relationships and pave the way to new meetings between junior and senior researchers. It is also intended to promote the use of open source to develop the systems’ implementation.

Conference Topics
CICCI 2013 will be divided into three tracks, having each of them on-the-topic specialized sessions. The papers have to be unpublished and present original research contributions-although not limited- in the following topics:

1- Interoperability and Databases: Databases’ integration, syntactic and semantic interoperability, databases and XML. New databases model to e-commerce, e-governance and other e-applications. Metadata, its interpretations and usage. Ubiquitous databases. Modelation, reuse, extraction, evolution and integration of ontology. Databases’ technologies to build Semantic Web: modelation, recuperation of data, semantic web reasoning and integration.  Languages, tools and methodologies to web data semantic analysis. Science Semantic Web and e-business. Database security. Business intelligence and its applications to environmental management. Standards and Guidelines in database design.

2- Algorithms and programming paradigms: Technology and programming languages, distributed and parallel processing. Virtualization. Grid & cloud computing. Cloud computing and its applications in Environmental management. Automatic program generation. Aspect Oriented Programming. CASE tools and model directed software develop. Specific Domain Languages (SDL). Services Oriented Architecture (SOA). Tools and technologies in free software. Standards and Guidelines in management of software projects.

3- Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition: Intelligent Agents and Multi Agent Systems (MAS), Machine learning and knowledge discovering, Meta heuristics. Soft computing and hybrid systems. New challenge in Soft Computing.Syntactical and Structural Pattern Recognition, Logical Combinatorial Pattern Recognition. Fuzzy and rough sets theories and their applications. Digital Signal Processing; Adaptive Signal processing. Detecting, processing and voice coding, audio and music. Digital Image Processing. Biometrics, face and gesture. Computer Vision. Video compression and streaming. Video surveillance and monitoring. Text processing and document recognition. Image, Data and Text Mining. Information and scientific visualization. Languages and tools to develop Graphic User Interfaces (GUIs). Virtual reality. Computational models for social networks. Intelligent systems for environmental management and renewable energy development.

The transversal theme of the conference is ¨Computational models for decision making¨; the interest is to approach this subject from the topics of the conference.

Publications
All papers will be evaluated by the scientific committee according to: originality, clarity and contribution criteria. The accepted papers will be published digitally (with its ISBN code). The norms of publication can be seen at the website of the conference.

The available formats are: doc, docx, odt and pdf ( http://www.informaticahabana.cu/files/articulos_informatica_doc.doc ).

You should upload your paper to the Convention website ( http://www.informaticahabana.cu/?q=es/node/177 ). Remember you should also attach a synthesis of the main author’s curriculum vitae.

Along with the publication in the proceedings of the Convention, those papers related to the topic "Computational models for decision-making" could be selected to be published as a post-proceeding in the Series Studies in Fuzzyness and SoftComputing, published by Springer. Also, a Special Issue of Journal of “Computación y Sistemas” (ISSN: 1405-5546) will be published, the aim of this special issue is to gather together a representative, prolific sample of the current research in applications of Machine Learning (ML) and Pattern Recognition (PR).

In both case, the scientific program committee will select the papers according to the papers’ evaluations. These papers will be published only after being presented in the conference. Extended versions of the selected papers will be subjected to a new review process.

Workshop on PhD formation
CICCI 2013 also includes a workshop on PhD formation; the workshop will hold March 22. It takes as a target to propitiate the exchange of criteria and experiences on the PhDs training of this specialty on different aspects of the process like:

1. Design of PhD training programs.
2. Methodology of the scientific investigation in this specialty.
3. Criteria to evaluate the scientific results in this specialty.

All the ones interested are invited to present short communications (15 minutes), for which they must send to the e-mail address (email: cicci@uclv.edu.cu) the following information:

-Presentation’s title
-Speaker’s name
-Speaker’s institution.

Lectures and Tutorial Courses
CICCI'2013 includes several tutorial courses taught by specialists of high standing, which will be developed 18 and 19 March at the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI) in Havana. Those interested in attending these courses should contact the organizers to report interest, as there are limited vacancies.

In CICCI'2013 also will be taught some lectures in each session on 20 and 21. Among the invited speakers are Prof. Dr. Janusz Kacprzyk, the Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland, Dr. Anthony I. Wasserman of Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley, USA, and Prof. Dr. Ann Nowe of CoMo Lab at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), Belgium. Currently is expected the participation of other prominent specialists in the topics of the conference.

Official Languages
The official languages of CICCI 2013 are Spanish and English. Authors interested in the postproceeding in the Series Studies in Fuzzyness and SoftComputing must submit their papers in English.
