The 7th International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments CALL FOR PAPERS ======================================= PETRA 2014 (www.petrae.org) May 27-30, Rhodes Island, Greece ======================================= Important dates Paper Submission Deadline: Jan. 15, 2014 Poster Paper Submission Deadline: Feb. 15, 2014 ======================================= Conference Theme The PETRA Conference brings together different types of technology to address an important social and healthcare issue: as the world's population ages, there is growing interest in solutions for the in- home care of the elderly as well as for the care of people with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other disabilities or traumas. PETRA (which means "stone" in Greek) reflects the needs of the domestic environment, or "Oikos" as it was known in ancient Greece, but from a technological perspective. People's living environments are particularly important in an increasingly crowded and complex world where the need for inclusiveness and connectivity with the rest of the world is key. PETRA addresses the fact that, as people grow older, they will increasingly rely on technology to be able to stay in their homes. ======================================= Topics Topics and areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Wearable, ambient and wellness measurement and monitoring technologies Service and socially assistive robots for rehabilitation Computer Aided Rehabilitation Tools, and techniques for designing, implementing and deploying pervasive applications in assistive environments Machine learning and data mining tools for decision making Sensor networks for pervasive care, reliability and availability Robotics and automation in assistive living systems Natural language processing and automated dialogue systems Signal and image processing for ambient intelligence and pervasive computing User Interfaces, usability and flexibility Reasoning systems and machine learning for assistive environments Cognitive behavior analysis and monitoring Privacy, security and risk analysis of data sharing in assistive environements Computer-aided Physical therapy and occupational therapy systems Smart rehabilitation software Devices and orthotics for physical therapy and rehabilitation Human centered computing and the senior citizen Telemedicine and biotechnology applications using pervasive computing Social, ethical, legal and e-government issues in pervasive healthcare and aging Social impacts of the use of pervasive technologies, government policy & access global healthcare, citizen standards and interoperability Digital Cities of the future ======================================= General Chair: Fillia Makedon, University of Texas at Arlington, USA Program Committee Chairs: Mark Clements, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA Catherine Pelachaud, TELECOM ParisTech, FRANCE Program Committee co-Chairs: Ilias Maglogiannis, University of Piraeus, GREECE Vana Kalogeraki, Athens University of Economics and Business, GREECE |
