Welcome
The 2009 IEEE International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances for Wireless Communications will be held in Perugia, Italy in 2009. As in previous years, this workshop will feature poster presentations and invited plenarys on recent advances in signal processing for wireless communications, as well as for communications and networking in general. The workshop is being held in Perugia, known as the "green heart of Italy," in roughly the center of Italy in the region of Umbria. The workshop itself will be held in two close-by locations located in the center of the medieval city. The poster sessions will be in the Rocca Paolina, a fortress built in 1540. The plenary talks will be held in the Sala dei Notari. A Gala banquet will take place Monday evening in a historical villa while Tuesday afternoon will feature a special tour of the S. Francesco Chapel in Assisi. The historical Center of Perugia, in its entirety, is a splendid epitome of arts and civility in Italy. It combines natural beauties with both medieval and modern architectural interests. There are several important museums such as the Archeological Museum and the National Gallery, with a collection of Umbrian and Tuscany paintings from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and considered as one of the most important and richest in Italy. There is also a wealth of artistic beauties inside the city like the Piazza IV Novembre (the heart of Perugia), the Palazzo dei Priori, the Corso Vannucci, the Etruscan Arc, the Cathedral, the Saint Peter Church and the Rocca Paolina, the National Gallery. Outside the city, neighboring towns like Assisi, Siena, Orvieto, Gubbio, Todi, Spello and Spoleto promise make the venue attractive for spouses and families. Perugia is a great place for a small, intimate workshop like SPAWC 2009. During the summer, there are many open bars, restaurants, pubs, and other late night activities all around which guarantees a pleasant stay in a city with a great cultural and international atmosphere, due to the presence of its old University founded in 1307 and to the Italian University for foreign people, which attracts thousands of students every year from allover the world. With frequent air connections to Milan and high speed train connections to Rome, getting to Perugia will be simple from any destination. Several all-budget accommodations from 2 to 5 stars are within walking distance from the workshop venue. We hope you will consider submitting your work to SPAWC 2009 and look forward to seeing you in Italy. Ciao! |
