Advanced Techniques on XML Data Management
(XML-DM 2010) In conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Web-Age Information Management (WAIM 2010) July 15, 2010, Jiuzhai Valley, China XML has gained lot of attention from database and Web researchers who are actively working in one or more of the emerging XML areas. XML data are self-describing, and provide a platform independent means to describe data and therefore, can transport data from one platform to another. XML documents can be mapped to one more of the existing data models such as relational and object-relational, and XML views can be produced dynamically from the pre-existing data models. XML queries can be mapped to the queries of the underlying models and can use their optimization features. XML data integration is useful for E-commerce applications such as comparison-shopping, which requires further study in the domain of data, schema and query based integration. XML change management is another important area that has attracted attention in the context of web warehouse. XML has been in use in upcoming areas such web services, sensor and biological data management. The XML Data Management workshop focuses on the convergence of database technology with XML technology, and brings together academics, practitioners, users and vendors to discuss the use and synergy between these technologies. We are pleased to invite original contributions in this area. One of the key objectives of this workshop is to bring together researchers in this area who can share their views under this workshop. We solicit papers with important new insights and experiences of developing tools and techniques for managing XML data. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * XML data integration * XML data storage and indexing * XML query languages and optimization * XML views and data publishing * XML applications in semantic web * XML data mining * XML change management * XML views and data mappings * XML data compression * XML in Web services * XML benchmark and performance studies * XML applications in new domains- sensor and biological data management * XML in cloud computing Submission Papers Papers should not exceed 10 pages in LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) format. The submission of papers must be in either PDF or Word format. We also welcome demonstration proposals and posters to foster interaction, to present system perspective on real problems, and to introduce innovative concepts. Those demo or shorter papers should not exceed 4 pages. The Authors should exclude the usage of non-English fonts to avoid the problems from reviewers' machines. All accepted papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series, and all accepted papers (including regular, demo and poster papers) will be indexed by EI. This ensures wide dissemination and high visibility (e.g. in the DBLP and ScienceDirect). Online proceedings will additionally be hosted at the workshop web site. Please submit your papers using the following submission site: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/XMLDM2010 For any questions, please email to: jiahenglu@gmail.com XML-DB 2009 Student Travel Awards Student Travel Awards will be available for students attending XML-DB 2009, providing partial funding support for travel expenses to Jiuzhai Valley, China. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a full-time student. Priority will be given to students who have an accepted paper at XML-DB 2009. Award selection will consider the authorship of the paper (sole, first, or co-author) and will be limited by available funds.
