Third International Workshop on Mobile Multimedia Information Retrieval (MoMIR 2009), December 14-16, 2009. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia In conjunction with 7th International Conference on Mobile Computing and Multimedia (MoMM2009) MoMIR2009 HomePage (http://sky.fit.qut.edu.au/~tjondron/MoMIR2009.html) Abstract The rapid expansion of digital multimedia data delivered on new generation mobile devices, such as PDA, smart phones, and portable audiovisual player, has created new challenges for more effective content retrieval anywhere at anytime. MoMIR workshop is held in conjunction with the International Conference on Mobile Computing and Multimedia. The purpose of this workshop is to provide an international forum for researchers, students, professionals, and experts from academia and industry to present new research results, exchange ideas, and discussion on future challenges in multimedia information retrieval on mobile and wireless platforms. Topics of interest We are soliciting original papers that address a range of issues in multimedia information retrieval on mobile and wireless platforms including, but not limited to: * Content-based indexing, search and retrieval of multimedia data, particularly for mobile applications. * Retrieval models, query language and query processing for mobile multimedia access. * Summarization, content representation, and visualization of multimedia content for pervasive devices. * Emerging architecture to enable seamless, smooth, and reliable multimedia streaming over wireless network. * Interaction design (HCI) and user modeling in mobile multimedia settings. * Personalization of multimedia contents for mobile contexts. * Security issues and solutions for mobile multimedia retrieval. * Multimedia data compression techniques to enable faster multimedia delivery in small and limited bandwidth. * Emerging applications in mobile multimedia retrieval and collaboration. Important Dates August 4, 2009 Full Paper submission (max. 10 pages) September 4, 2009 Acceptance Notification October 2, 2009 Camera-ready submission December 14-16, 2009 Workshop in conjunction with MoMM2009 Publication of Papers Accepted full papers will appear in the conference proceedings to be published by ACM and the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) books@ocg.at series. Post Conference Journal Publication Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be considered for publication in special issues of international journals among others are the Journal of Mobile Multimedia ( JMM ), the International Journal of Business Data Communications and Networking ( IJBDCN ), the International Journal of Mobile Computing and Multimedia Communications ( IJMCMC ), International Journal of Mobile Information Systems ( IJMIS ), Signal, Image and Video Processing ( SIVP ), International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing ( IJWMIP ). Indexing Proceedings will be included in the ACM Digital Library and indexed appropriately in all major indexes. Review Process Submitted papers will be blind peer reviewed by at least three members of the international program committee and carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings.
