The DMS conference is an international conference series, which covers a wide spectrum of paper presentations, technical discussions and demonstrations in the fields of distributed multimedia computing.

The main themes of the DMS2009 conference are: network and systems, emergency management and security, situated computing, multimedia software engineering, and multimedia information retrieval, mining and fusion. The conference organizers seek contributions of high quality papers, panels or tutorials, addressing various aspects of distributed multimedia systems and applications, for presentation at the conference and publication in the proceedings. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Distributed Multimedia Technology
media coding and compression standards
media streaming and QoS control
digital rights management
middleware and OS support
privacy and security issues
mobile devices and wireless networks
sensor networks
context sensing and processing

Distributed Multimedia Models and Systems

Both research papers and system papers describing developments and experiences accompanied by demonstrations of prototypes are solicited.

Conference Hotel

The DMS2009 Conference will be held at the Hotel Sofitel, Redwood City, San Francisco Bay, USA. The hotel has made available for these limited dates (9/10/2009 - 9/13/2009) to DMS2009 attendees a discount rate of $89 US dollars for single/double, not including sales tax.

Information for Authors

Papers must be written in English. An electronic version (Postscript, PDF, or MS Word format) of the full paper should be submitted using the following URL: http://conf.ksi.edu/dms09/submit/SubmitPaper.php. Manuscript must include a 200-word abstract and be no more than 6 pages of IEEE double column text (including figures and references).

Research papers must not be published or under consideration for publication in a journal or in a conference with proceedings. Research papers will be evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness and clarify of exposition.

System papers should report on existing research prototypes by clearly identifying the original contributions and ideas demonstrated, and will be evaluated based on technical soundness, feasibility and applicability.

System papers must be accompanied by a separate demo description specifying the equipment and the type of installation that will be used. Authors of system papers must bring their own equipment for demo.

Depending upon the results of evaluation a paper may be accepted as regular paper (6 pages), short paper (4 pages) or poster (poster presentation only). In addition to paper presentation, system papers will also be included in demo sessions.
