Call For Papers | |||||||||||||||
This conference is held in cooperation with ACM SIGPLAN and ACM SIGAPP.
Scope: Java is one of most widely used languages, with a continuously evolving support in the form of APIs, libraries, and tools. Its applications range from single-processor embedded systems to distributed enterprise applications. We invite papers exploring all aspects of Java programming. In particular, we seek research papers covering the principles of programming in Java, and teaching and experience reports dealing with the practice of Java programming. Papers introducing new kinds of frameworks and tools which have been developed using Java are also encouraged. In 2009 we explicitly invite contributions on language and programming issues on the Java platform in general, including but not limited to languages like Scala, Groovy, JRuby, Jython, Clojure, etc. Papers must describe original work, and must not have been accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. Topics include but are not limited to: * The Java Language and Systems * Java and Dynamic Languages * Software Engineering with Java * Applications in Science, Engineering, and Business * Agent-Based Java Systems * Mobile Java * Practice and Experience Reports * Teaching Java Programming Submission Guidelines: All papers must represent original and unpublished work that is not currently under review. Papers will be evaluated according to their significance, originality, technical content, style, clarity, and relevance to the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to attend the conference. Four types of paper submissions will be accepted: research papers, experience reports, industry papers, and demo papers. Submitted papers should clearly indicate their type. The conference proceedings are expected to be published as part of the ACM International Proceedings Series and are expected to be disseminated through the ACM Digital Library. We also expect to invite the authors of the best papers to provide an extended version for a special issue of Elsevier Science of Computer Programming. Research and experience papers must not exceed 10 pages, while Demo and Industry papers must not exceed 4 pages. The required format for the submission is the ACM SIG Proceedings Style. Please apply the ACM Computing Classification categories and terms. The ACM Computing Classification scheme can be found at http://www.acm.org/class/1998. The author kit containing the Latex, Word and Word Perfect templates for the required style can be found at http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html. Important Dates: * Paper Submission: April 17, 2009 * Author Notification: June 1, 2009 * Camera Ready Submissions: July 10, 2009 * Author Registration Deadline: July 17, 2009 Call for Tutorial & Workshop Proposals: The PPPJ 2009 organizing committee is soliciting proposals for workshops and tutorial sessions to be held in conjunction with the main programme. The purpose of PPPJ workshops and tutorials is to discuss emerging aspects of Java programming with students, researchers and practitioners. The aims of the sessions are to develop understanding, to exchange experiences, to build research communities and to help to characterize the direction of future developments. The possible subjects to focus on include (non-exhaustively) the following: * Optimization * VM Design * Java Verification * Aspect-Orientation * Java-specific metrics * Software Engineering with Java * Program Design and Implementation * Design Patterns through Java * Testing of Java Programs * Performance of Java Programs * Tools for Java Programming * Java-based MDD/MDA * Prototype generation in Java * Applications in science, engineering, and business * Novel Applications of Java * Domain-specific Frameworks * Java-based Tools * Java-based Enterprise Computing * Mobile Java * Practice and experience * Java and Financial Services * Java and the Manufacturing Industry * Teaching Java Programming * Teleteaching Applications * Teaching Methods Workshop and tutorial sessions will be held in conjunction with the PPPJ 2009 conference. Tutorials should last 1.5 to 2 hours, workshops should last 2 to 4 hours. Workshop sessions may include a submission and review process of short papers (max 4 pages), and should include a discussion session. Tutorials should focus on a particular technique, software or methodology. Workshop papers will be published with the conference proceedings. Workshop and tutorial proposals should be no longer than four pages, should describe the background and focus of the workshop, the background of the workshop organizing committee and the estimated number of participants. Proposals should also include a draft Call for Papers. The organizers of PPPJ 2009 will provide a meeting room and are intending to publish workshop proceedings along with the PPPJ proceedings in the ACM International Conference Proceedings series. All other issues related to proposed workshops will have to be planned and organized by the workshop organizing committee. Workshop and Tutorials proposals should be sent by email to Ben Stephenson (ben.stephenson@ucalgary.ca) and Christian W. Probst (probst@imm.dtu.dk). Important Dates: * Submission of workshop and tutorial proposals: February 27, 2009 * Notification of accepted proposals: March 7, 2009 * Paper submissions for workshops: June 8, 2009 * Notification to paper authors: July 3, 2009 * Camera ready version: July 10, 2009 |
