ISMA2008 International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering, September 15-17, 2008 Objectives | Schedule | Abstract submission | Conference venue | Organising committee | Scientific committee Download the ISMA2008 Call for papers Objectives The 2008 Leuven Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering will be held from September 15th till 17th in Leuven, Belgium. It is the 23rd international conference in a series of annual courses and biennial conferences on structural dynamics, modal analysis and noise and vibration engineering, organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. The conference provides a forum for engineers, researchers and other professionals active in the field of modelling, analysing, testing and improving the noise and vibration characteristics of mechanical systems and civil structures. The conference combines expertise in the noise and vibration fields by stressing common measurement, modelling, analysis and control technologies. The meeting will provide a further impetus to the cross fertilisation of ideas in both areas The conference program will include keynote lectures, tutorials and invited and contributed papers in specialised areas of noise and vibration engineering and structural dynamics. The focus of the conference is on experimental and numerical methods, with special attention to recent applications in vehicle and civil engineering. Fields with a strong interaction between noise and vibration behaviour will be stressed. Modal analysis and structural dynamic testing remains one of the backbones of the conference, and herein we would like to emphasize limiting factors such as product and test variability as well as applications in the field of structural integrity and damage assessment. Conference topics Papers are sollicited on research results and engineering applications in the following areas: * Active noise and vibration control * Aeroacoustics and flow induced noise and vibrations * Damage detection and condition monitoring * Dynamics of civil structures * Dynamics of lightweight structures * Damping * Durability testing - vibration control * Instrumentation * Measurement techniques - signal processing * Medium and high frequency techniques * Modal testing and FRF estimation * Model correlation and updating * Multibody dynamics * Noise control engineering * Non-linearities: identification and modelling * Parameter estimation * Rotating machinery * Sound quality engineering * Smart dynamic structures * Source localization and transfer path analysis * Substructuring and coupling * System diagnostics and prognosis * Time-frequency analysis techniques * Uncertainties in structural dynamics and acoustics * Vehicle dynamics * Vehicle noise and vibration (NVH) * Vibro-acoustics Top Schedule * January 15, 2008: Deadline for submitting abstracts. * March 15, 2008: Authors are notified regarding acceptance of their contribution, and receive instructions concerning the format of the paper. * June 1, 2008: Deadline for submission of manuscripts. (in digital format) * September 15-17, 2008: ISMA2008 Conference in Leuven Top Abstract submission Potential contributors are requested to submit an abstract (40 lines). The scientific committee will decide upon the selection of the papers. If the abstract is selected, the author will be asked to submit a paper (max. 10 pages), suitable for publication in the conference proceedings. Online abstract submission will be available from November 2007. Top Conference venue The conference will be held on the city campus of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, located in the old centre of Leuven. The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, founded in 1425 is one of the oldest and most famous universities of the European continent. The historic and artistic past is present everywhere in this charming city which is the true capital of Brabant. The town hall, the beguinage, the numerous churches, monasteries, convents and university colleges are evidence of a glorious past and lend the town a medieval character. Leuven is located in the centre of Belgium only 30km from Brussels and 20km from Brussels National Airport. |
