In conjunction with IEEE BIBM 2026

Time: Dec 1-4, 2026
Location: Dallas, USA

Introduction
We are pleased to announce the first IEEE BIBM 2026 Undergraduate and High School Symposium, to be held as part of the IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM) 2026 in Dallas, USA.

The symposium provides a dedicated platform for undergraduate and high school students to present their research in bioinformatics, biomedicine, biomedical informatics, and related areas. It aims to encourage early research experience, support scientific communication, and provide students with opportunities to receive feedback from researchers in academia, industry, and funding agencies.

We invite submissions from undergraduate and high school students on topics including, but not limited to, the following areas:

Topics of Interest
• Foundations, algorithms, models, and theory of bioinformatics and biomedical data analysis
• Machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods for genomics, proteomics, and multi-omics data
• Biomedical data mining, including text, spatio-temporal, graph, imaging, and heterogeneous biomedical data
• Bioinformatics systems, platforms, tools, and databases
• Federated learning, privacy, security, and trustworthy AI in biomedical applications
• Computational drug discovery, drug-target interaction prediction, and precision medicine
• AI for clinical decision support, electronic health records, and health informatics
• Biomedical image analysis, medical imaging, and computer-aided diagnosis
• Large language models and foundation models for biomedical applications
• Novel applications in genomics, transcriptomics, structural biology, synthetic biology, and public health

Eligibility
• Undergraduate and high school students pursuing an academic degree at the time of submission are eligible to submit as first authors.
• Each submission must have at least one student author.
• Co-authorship with faculty members, teachers, mentors, or researchers is allowed.
• The student author should be the primary contributor and should present the work if accepted.
Submission Format

• Undergraduate papers are limited to 6 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
• High school papers are limited to 5 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
• The author affiliation should indicate whether the first author is a high school or undergraduate student.

Presentation and Publication
• The symposium is planned as a full-day, in-person event.
• At least one student author of each accepted paper must attend and present the work in person.
