The 3rd International Conference on Human–AI Interaction and Experience Design (HAXD 2027) Technically Co-Sponsored by the IEEE Italy Section Hybrid Conference — On-site & Online Naples, Italy · June 14–16, 2027 Theme: Designing for Agency: Human Control in an AI-Driven World Scope Artificial intelligence has become deeply embedded in our daily lives, transforming how we work, learn, manage our health, communicate, create, and interact with public and digital services. As AI systems become increasingly capable, autonomous, and pervasive, the quality of human–AI interaction is emerging as a critical factor in determining whether these technologies genuinely benefit people and society. HAXD 2027 focuses on the design and experience of human–AI interaction—examining not only what AI systems can do, but also how people interact with them, how AI-mediated experiences shape human behaviour and decision-making, and how interaction design can preserve meaningful human agency and control. We are interested in understanding and improving the full spectrum of human–AI outcomes, including usefulness, usability, trust, cognitive workload, user satisfaction, safety, fairness, accessibility, transparency, user agency, and long-term societal impact. The conference welcomes research, design, and practical contributions spanning a broad range of AI technologies, including foundation models, generative AI, large language models, conversational agents, agentic and multi-agent systems, recommendation systems, computer vision and speech interfaces, interactive machine learning, robotics, and emerging AI paradigms. We particularly welcome work that considers the diversity of people who interact with AI, including researchers and practitioners, multilingual and multicultural communities, older adults, children and young people, and people with disabilities. We also welcome research across the many contexts in which human–AI interaction takes place, including homes, workplaces, education, healthcare, creative environments, civic technologies, social platforms, financial services, and other emerging application domains. HAXD 2027 invites contributions addressing how humans and AI systems communicate, collaborate, delegate, supervise, co-create, learn from one another, and make decisions together. We welcome work that designs new interaction paradigms, evaluates real-world AI experiences, develops methodologies for AI usability and UX research, creates tools and prototypes, or investigates the ethical and societal implications of AI interaction design. We especially welcome work that: Designs new interaction paradigms for AI systems Evaluates real human–AI experiences with users Advances methodologies for AI usability and UX research Explores human agency, control, and oversight in AI-supported activities Investigates collaborative, agentic, and multi-agent interaction Examines the societal, ethical, and responsible-design implications of AI Develops tools, prototypes, datasets, benchmarks, and reproducible artifacts Topics of Interest Track 1 — Human–AI Interaction & Experience Design Conversational interfaces and dialogue design for AI systems Multimodal interaction paradigms involving voice, gesture, text, and visual interaction Adaptive and personalized AI interfaces Explainable AI interfaces and visualization User agency, human control, and error recovery in automated systems UX methodologies and user journey mapping for AI-enabled products Onboarding and mental-model formation for AI systems Accessibility and inclusive design for AI interfaces Cross-cultural and multilingual AI interaction Emotional design and affective computing in AI interfaces Track 2 — Collaborative, Agentic & Multi-Agent Systems Human–AI collaboration frameworks and design patterns Agentic AI workflow design and user experience Co-creation and co-design with AI systems AI assistants and virtual agents Human-in-the-loop AI design Delegation, supervision, and intervention in AI-assisted tasks Interfaces for orchestrating multiple AI agents Visualization of agent interactions and handoffs Trust, accountability, and consensus in multi-agent decision chains Monitoring, debugging, and observability interfaces for agentic systems Track 3 — Generative AI & Creative Experiences Interaction and interface design for large language models and conversational AI Text-to-image, video, audio, and code generation experiences Human–AI co-authoring and creative collaboration Prompt design and prompting strategies Prompt-free and natural interaction with generative AI Steering, grounding, and controllability of generative outputs Provenance, watermarking, and disclosure of AI-generated content Evaluation of quality, creativity, usefulness, and user experience Generative AI in design, art, media, and other creative practices Track 4 — Trust, Safety, Ethics & Responsible AI Trust, transparency, and algorithmic understanding Bias mitigation and fairness through inclusive interaction design Ethical considerations in persuasive AI Social implications of AI interaction design Hallucination disclosure and uncertainty communication Prompt injection and adversarial-input awareness in user interfaces Guardrails, refusals, and safe-completion experiences Misuse prevention and responsible AI interaction Red-teaming and verification interfaces Human oversight and accountability in AI-supported decisions Track 5 — Data, Personalization, Memory & Privacy User-controllable memory and context management for AI assistants Transparency and editing of AI-generated user models Personalization and user preference management Personalization versus privacy trade-offs Privacy, data protection, and consent in AI interfaces Data provenance and “right to be forgotten” interfaces Feedback loops and preference-elicitation UX Long-term context and continuity in AI interactions Cross-session AI experiences User control over personal data and AI memory Track 6 — Evaluation, Methodology & Tools Usability testing methods for AI systems User research techniques for human–AI interaction Metrics and evaluation frameworks for human–AI experiences Longitudinal studies of AI adoption and use Comparative evaluation of AI interaction paradigms Design thinking and participatory design for AI systems Prototyping tools and techniques for AI interfaces Reproducible methods and benchmarks for human–AI interaction Evaluation of agentic and generative AI experiences Methods for studying trust, agency, workload, and user satisfaction Track 7 — Domain Applications & Emerging Technologies Healthcare AI interfaces and patient experience Educational AI systems and learning experience design Workplace AI tools and productivity interfaces Creative AI systems and artistic collaboration Autonomous systems and human oversight Robotics and human–robot interaction Smart-home and IoT AI interaction Financial AI services and user trust Virtual and augmented reality AI interfaces Brain–computer interfaces for AI interaction Future interaction paradigms and speculative design AI interaction in emerging application domains Submission Types HAXD 2027 welcomes the following submission categories: Research Papers — Up to 8 pages Full research contributions presenting novel methods, systems, frameworks, theories, or empirical findings with rigorous evaluation and significant contributions to human–AI interaction and experience design.
