Call For Papers

Graph-based data models have recently gained much popularity as powerful means for data representation in several database application areas. Notable examples are biological and chemical databases, computer vision and pattern recognition, Web-scattered data, healthcare, personal information management (PIM) and enterprise information management (EIM) systems, social networks, just to mention a few. The largeness and complexity of datasets in these domains make their querying a really challenging task.

The overall goal of the workshop is to bring people from different fields together, exchange research ideas and results, and encourage discussion about how to efficiently and effectively support graph queries in different application domains and to understand the research challenges of such an area. We solicit researchers and practitioners working in information retrieval, relational databases, Semantic Web, streaming data management, pattern matching, biological databases, social networks, human-computer interaction, and related areas to submit their original papers to this workshop. We thus welcome innovative proposals for graph-structured data, with a particular focus on the querying issues.

The 2010 edition of the GraphQ workshop will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia, in September 2010.

Topics of Interest

The main topics covered by the workshop include, but are certainly not limited to:

* Query models and languages for graph-structured data
* Managing large graphs for searching purposes
* Indices for graph query processing
* Graph pattern matching
* Querying RDF graphs, ontologies, or other knowledge representations
* Flexible query answering on graph-structured data
* Personalization in graph search and feedback
* Graph query processing and performance optimization
* Keyword search on graph-structured data
* Information retrieval on graph-structured data
* Querying distributed and/or heterogeneous graph-structured data
* Querying graph-structured data streams
* Query visualization and interactive interfaces for graph-structured data
* Querying biological databases
* Graph query processing in Social Networks

Submission Instructions

The papers must be submitted in the LNCS format (using LaTeX2e or Word2007 template); please see http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html for submission details. The paper length is limited to 10 pages. All submissions will be handled electronically through the EasyChair system. To register and submit papers, please, follow the link: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=graphq2010.

Submissions will be refereed by at least two PC members. Accepted papers will be published as local proceedings distributed at the ADBIS 2010 conference and will be made available on-line on the GraphQ Web Site. Best papers will be selected and proposed to be published in an internationally recognized journal (subject to additional reviewing).

At least one author is expected to register for the workshop and to give a talk about the contribution.
