We are pleased to announce the 5th International Transition Design Conference, co-hosted by Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Universidad de Palermo (Argentina), and Carnegie Mellon University (USA). The conference will take place from July 8-11, 2026, on the Mexico City campus of TEC de Monterrey.
This year’s theme — Weaving Regenerative Futures — invites participants to explore how transition-focused research, design, and practice can contribute to socially and ecologically regenerative futures. The conference brings together an international and interdisciplinary community of scholars, educators, and practitioners whose work is grounded in transition design, sustainability transitions, and long-term systems change. While we warmly welcome participants from adjacent fields such as regenerative design, futures studies, and systems thinking, the conference invites contributions that engage with these themes specifically in relation to sustainability transitions and the frameworks of transition design. It is also intended to welcome participants who are new to these fields and eager to learn more.
The conference program will feature keynote presentations, paper and poster sessions, as well as afternoon lectures, workshops and panel discussions. Participants may attend either in person in Mexico City or join remotely via Zoom, as the event will be fully hybrid.
A Call for Extended Abstracts and Posters is now open, with submissions invited in four thematic conference tracks. In addition to research papers, practitioners are encouraged to submit posters that share case studies, methods, and practices related to transition and systems change.
