Call for Papers

The First International Workshop on Frontiers in Services Transformation and Innovations (FSTI-2011) is intended to

extend and challenge traditional thinking about services and service innovation. To the majority of computer

scientists, whether in academia or industry, the term “services” is associated with Web services and service-oriented

architectures. However, there is much larger tier to be considered of the remarkable growth of the service sector,

which has come to dominate economic activity in most advanced economies over the last 50 years [1].

Globalization, increasing automation, the growth of the Internet, and the dynamic componentization of business are

driving the reconfiguration of service value networks at a scale and pace never before seen in history. The

opportunity to innovate in services, to realize business and societal value from knowledge about service, to research,

develop, and deliver new information services and business services, has never been greater. The challenges are both

the multidisciplinary nature of service innovation, which combines business, technology, social-organizational, and

demand innovation as well as the lack of formal representations of service systems. As computer scientists widen their

notion of services to include the formal representation, optimization and transformation of service systems, as well

as the delivery of more complex business and information services, the opportunities for services innovation will be

further enriched [1].

Throughout, this workshop provides an international forum for researcher and industry participants to share and

exchange their experiences, discuss challenges and present original ideas on multidisciplinary perspectives on service

transformations and innovations.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

- Customer Experience by Design (customer centric culture, design for supportability)
- Service Transformation (move from product centric to customer centric)
- Creation of Global Service Organizations and Capabilities
- Services Economy
- Service Operations Optimization
- Technology and Infrastructure Planning and Implementation for Services
- Value models
- Business/Technology/People trends
- Service Innovations and Strategies
- Service Exploration
- Service Design Methodologies and Patterns
- Requirements Orientation towards Services
- Service Compliance with Laws and Regulations
- Services Sustainability
- Service Delivery&Management
- Service Sectors/Branches/Industries
- Information&Communication Technologies (ICT) for Services
- Device Technologies and Service Evolution
- Theories and Foundations of Services Science
- Emerging Services and Service Architectures
- Future Trends in Services

Instruction for authors:

Submitted papers of between 4-6 pages long must be original and not submitted for publication elsewhere.
Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts following the IEEE Conference Proceedings Manuscript style: two

columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 font size, and number each page.
You can find instructions for authors how to format the IEEE CS proceedings manuscripts, at the following web page:

www.computer.org/portal/site/cscps

All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two or more independent referees of the International Workshop Program

Committee and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit, originality, significance, technical soundness, and

clarity of exposition.

Prepare your paper in PDF file (Adobe format), and submit it electronically to the EIDWT-2011 web page:
