CALL FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS / PAPERS
The 5th European Workshop on Maritime Systems Resilience and Security (MARESEC 2025) is dedicated to the research on resilience, security, technology and related ethical, legal, and social aspects in the context of maritime systems, including but not restricted to (offshore/onshore) infrastructures, navigation and shipping, and autonomous systems. The intention of this workshop is to bring together researchers to present new results and ongoing projects as well as to exchange experiences and explore possible collaborations. Prospective authors are invited to submit an extended abstract (1-2 pages, two column IEEE conference template), which will be reviewed. Accepted authors will then be invited for oral presentation and, optionally, submission of a full paper (4-6 pages). Authors may also initially submit the full paper instead of the abstract. The full paper will undergo a further review process and be published as open access in the workshop proceedings. Authors of high-quality papers will be invited, after the workshop, to submit an extended version of the full paper for publication in the peer reviewed journal Transactions on Maritime Science (ToMS). TOPICS OF INTEREST The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Maritime security technologies * Active imaging * Cyber-security * Sensors and instruments * Multi-sensor networks * Situational awareness * Technology testing Data analysis and intelligent systems * Underwater imaging and computer vision * Machine learning / artificial intelligence * Autonomous vehicles and systems * Digital twins and data infrastructures Resilience, safety, and security * Resilience engineering and metrics * Safety assessment and engineering * Security assessment and Engineering * Risk engineering * Modeling and simulation * Critical infrastructures Ethical, legal, and social aspects * Regulating emerging technologies in the maritime domain * Human/societal aspects of security * Ethics in the security domain PUBLICATION The Proceedings of the MARESEC 2025 conference will be published as open access in the online archive Zenodo. All accepted full papers will be uploaded to Zenodo by the organizing committee. All uploads get a persistent DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and are fully and uniquely citeable. They are attributed to the conference, stored safely for the future, and indexed by OpenAIRE for academic research and convenient citation.
