CIbSE is the leading Software Engineering research forum in Ibero-America. The main objective of this conference is to promote high-quality scientific research in Iberoamerican countries, supporting software engineering researchers in the publication and discussion of their work. In addition, the conference fosters collaboration and scientific production among academics, students, and practitioners.

CIbSE 2027 will be held in Viña del Mar, Chile, and will include invited talks from influential researchers in the Software Engineering community. It will have three satellite events: the Doctoral Symposium, the Ibero-American Advanced Software Engineering School (EIbAIS), and Industry Talks. The Doctoral Symposium is organized to disseminate and gather feedback on ongoing work of doctoral theses. EIbAIS combines lectures and tutorials on current trends in Software Engineering by renowned speakers. The Industry Talks bring together researchers and practitioners from the local informatics community to discuss Software Engineering issues in practice.

CIbSE 2027 also invites submissions of papers about R&D projects and industry contracts, where researchers can describe their current research lines funded by national and international grants, as well as contracts with companies in which valuable technology transfer actions are carried out in the field of Software Engineering.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit high-quality research papers describing significant, original, and previously unpublished results in Software Engineering, in any of the official languages of CIbSE: English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
The following paper categories are welcome:
Technical papers (no more than 15 pages): papers describing innovative research in the topics of interest of the conference. Papers in this category should describe an original contribution to the topics and should carefully support claims of novelty with citations to the relevant literature.
Technical papers are evaluated on the basis of novelty, rigor, relevance, verifiability & transparency, and presentation. When a paper builds on previous work by the author(s), the novelty of the new contribution with respect to the previous work should be clearly described. Technical papers should clearly discuss how the results were validated.
As in previous editions, a set of the best papers presented at the conference will be selected for publication in a journal indexed in the Journal of Citation Reports Additionally, the best paper will receive a certificate of recognition.
Emerging ideas papers (no more than 8 pages): papers describing new and unconventional approaches that depart from standard practice, on the topics of interest of the conference. They are intended to describe clear research ideas that are at an early stage of development.
Emerging ideas papers will be evaluated primarily on their level of originality and potential impact on the field with respect to promoting innovative thinking. Therefore, the novelty (including gaps in the state of the art) and relevance of the idea should be accurately described. While it is not required to fully validate the idea being presented, a presentation of preliminary results is expected to provide initial information on the feasibility and impact of the contribution.
Poster papers (no more than 4 pages): papers describing an idea or initial state of a study, related to the topics of interest of the conference, and without the need to have obtained tangible results at the time of submission. The main objective is to enable conference participants to discuss these ideas with the authors and to contribute new insights to the work in progress. Accepted papers will be presented in poster format in a session in which there will be interaction between authors and conference attendees. In addition, the best poster will receive a certificate of recognition.

Articles on applied R&D projects or contracts with companies (no more than 4 pages): these contributions must describe R&D projects that are in progress at the time of submission. For these articles, the following information should be included: summary, main objective, beneficiaries of the proposal, technologies used and results obtained (so far and expected).

Submission

All papers must be follow the Brazilian Computer Society style for conference papers (https://www.sbc.org.br/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/modelosparapublicaodeartigos.zip) and be submitted in PDF through EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cibse2027).

Accepted technical and emerging ideas papers will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be made available through the Open Digital Library of the Brazilian Computer Society - SOL (https://sol.sbc.org.br/index.php/anais) and Curran Associates (http://www.proceedings.com/), and submitted for indexation to DBLP and Scopus.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register before the deadline for the final version. One registration corresponds to one paper only. Any author of each accepted paper must present it personally at the conference, or the paper will be removed from the proceedings. If an author has more than one accepted paper and will present all of them at the conference, it is possible to pay 50% of the registration fee for the second and subsequent co-authored papers. If they are presented by different authors at the conference, each author must pay 100% of the registration fee.

Papers that are not within the scope of the conference, do not follow the formatting guidelines, or have been submitted or published in any other peer-reviewed forum (conference or journal), will be rejected without review. All other submissions will be reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee.

Open Science Policy

CIbSE 2027 has an open science policy grounded in the principles that research results should be publicly accessible and empirical studies should be reproducible . We actively promote the adoption of open data and open-source principles and practices, encouraging authors to share (anonymized and curated) data to increase reproducibility and replicability.

All submissions will undergo the same review process, regardless of whether research artifacts (e.g., tool prototypes, code, interview protocols, questionnaires) or datasets are disclosed. We recommend authors include a supporting statement in their papers in a section named “Artifact Availability” after the “Conclusion” section. This statement should provide links to the open data and/or replication package and clarify under what conditions they can be used. Otherwise, this statement should explain why the data cannot be shared (e.g., due to sensitivity or non-disclosure agreements).

Authors are encouraged to provide clear instructions on access, usage and navigation of their replication package. We suggest including explanations in the paper itself about how the artifact and/or dataset were used, and detailing further usage guidance in a README file within the package.

In particular, we recommend to:

Share research artifacts and datasets as replication packages in reliable archival repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare, GitHub) using appropriate licenses (e.g., based on Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0). Avoid sharing artifacts and datasets via cloud services (e.g., Dropbox, Google Docs) due to the volatility of the links associated with these services.
· Share pre- and post-prints in non-commercial repositories (e.g., arXiv, institutional preprint repositories) using an appropriate license (e.g., arXiv default non-exclusive license, Creative Common). When sharing pre-prints, authors must avoid specifying that the manuscript was submitted to CIbSE 2027. We recommend against anonymizing them (i.e., by changing authors, title, abstract).

CIBSE 2027 will not accept submissions that have been previously published, are in press, or are in evaluation elsewhere.

AI use
Any article that includes AI‑generated content (e.g., text, figures or algorithms) must disclose this in the acknowledgements section. The paper sections that contain AI‑generated content must include a citation to the used AI system for its generation.


JOURNAL FIRST
——————————

Authors of papers on the conference's topics of interest that have been accepted in JCR (WoS) Q1 or Q2 journals are invited to present their research work at CIbSE. This provides an opportunity for authors to discuss their work with the community, as well as to enrich the CIbSE technical program. Presentations of these papers will be included in the CIbSE 2027 program.

There are two main evaluation criteria for selecting articles: (1) it addresses one or more CIbSE topics of interest, and (2) it describes original results that are not mere extensions of previous conference papers. In addition, (3) the article must have been accepted for publication between January 2026 and the submission deadline, and (4) it must not have been presented at any other conference as a journal-first contribution. Finally, (5) articles can be written in English, Portuguese, or Spanish.

At least one author of each selected article must (1) register before the submission date of the final version of the paper and (2) present it at the conference.

Authors interested in submitting journal-first articles to CIbSE 2027 should submit 1-page proposals in PDF format via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cibse2027). The following information should be provided: (i) title; (ii) author(s); (iii) affiliation(s); (iv) keywords; (v) journal name and information on its impact factor, ranking and quartile (Q1 or Q2); (vi) DOI; and (vii) abstract.


DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM

The Doctoral Symposium aims to disseminate and gather feedback for ongoing research by doctoral researchers, where a panel of experts will suggest new perspectives and improvements to doctoral theses.

The research submitted can address any of the CIbSE 2027 topics. We recommend, but do not require, that the research be at an intermediate stage (~2nd year) so expert suggestions can be included in the dissertation.

The suggested structure of the articles is:

Introduction to the research field and identification of its main open challenges.
Explicit and justified formulation of the research questions and objectives.
Summary of the problem domain current knowledge and existing solutions.
Outline of the applied research methodology.
Introduction of the proposed solution and the results obtained to date.
Aspects of the suggested solution that make it different or better compared to existing approaches.
Outstanding issues and next steps that are planned.
· List of references.

Papers for the Doctoral Symposium must be authored exclusively by doctoral students (without the thesis supervisor name). All papers should not exceed 8 pages, using the format established by the Open Digital Library of the Brazilian Computer Society - SOL (https://sol.sbc.org.br/index.php/anais), and be submitted in PDF via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cibse2027). Papers can be written in English, Portuguese or Spanish.

Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted papers must register before the deadline for the final version. The doctoral symposium follows a hybrid mode, i.e., papers can be presented in person or online, if justified. Finally, the best paper will receive a certificate of recognition.


INDUSTRY TALKS
———————————

The aim of the Industrial Talks is to promote the approach between professionals, researchers and teachers of software engineering, allowing to share the problems faced by our engineering in the real world and discussing the possibilities for improving collaboration between the parties, so that we can develop and implement better solutions. During the Industrial Talks, representatives from both SMEs and large companies will participate, as well as representatives from the world of research and R&D&I management organizations.


EIbAIS
—————

The Ibero-American Advanced School of Software Engineering (EIbAIS) is the CIbSE's initiative to spread and share evidence-based Software Engineering knowledge in Ibero-America. EIbAIS is a forum for dissemination and acquisition of Software Engineering and its related technologies and theoretical foundations, with the participation of practitioners, undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers. The tutorials are given by volunteers expert in their topics.

EIbAIS has two kinds of sessions: (i) on the state of the practice and (ii) on the state of the art.

State of the practice sessions offer discussions on topics of general interest and often represent local demand. These sessions support the exchange of knowledge and practical issues with participants, presenting evidence-based Software Engineering results to the audience. Examples of state of the art topics include User-Centered Design, DevOps, Internet of Things, Microservices and Software Engineering for Data Science, Quantum Software Development, among others.

State of the art sessions offer discussion on emerging topics of interest and generally represent the perspectives of the Software Engineering research and innovation community. These sessions provide information on current and future Software Engineering technologies that could represent innovative concepts in the field. The state-of-the-art topics include the same topics of the conference.
All participants attending the sessions will receive a certificate of participation, indicating the sessions, lecturers and contents.
