Call For Papers

Our upcoming Summer edition will delve into the role of the body in theology. We invite short contributions from scholars, students, and researchers across various disciplines, including theology, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, history, literature, anthropology, and beyond. We encourage submissions that critically engage with theologies of the body, covering themes such as:

Theology of the body: Examining the role of the body in theological concepts, including creation, incarnation, resurrection, and sacraments.
Feminist and queer theologies of the body: Exploring how feminist and queer perspectives challenge and expand traditional understandings of the body in theology.
Embodied spirituality: Investigating the role of the body in spiritual practices, rituals, and experiences.
Theology and disability: Addressing ableism and promoting inclusive theological perspectives on the body.
The body in non-Western theologies: Exploring how different religious traditions and cultures approach the body and its significance.

We welcome innovative and original contributions that offer fresh perspectives and insights. Both theoretical and empirical approaches are encouraged, as well as interdisciplinary studies that bridge the gap between theology and other fields of knowledge. Additionally, we invite creative submissions, such as poetry, creative writing, journal entries, book reviews, and artwork that engage with the theme.

Accepted papers will be published in the Summer edition. The deadline for submissions is June 3, 2024. Please submit your papers via email to cairntheologyproject@outlook.com. Include your full name, institutional affiliation (if applicable), a photograph, and a brief biography (100 words max) with your submission.
