Call For Papers

[Our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this announcement]

********************************************************************************
We are glad to invite you to the

1st Workshop in High-Performance Computing in Physics (PHYSHPC)
https://physhpc.github.io/
August 27th 2024
Madrid, Spain

EXTENDED submission deadline: May 20th, 2024 (AoE)
Acceptance Notification: June 20th, 2024 (AoE)
Revisions of accepted papers due: July 1st, 2024 (AoE)

The workshop is hosted by the
30th International European Conference on Parallel and Distributed
Computing (Euro-Par)
https://2024.euro-par.org/
********************************************************************************

MOTIVATION
PHYSHPC is an interdisciplinary workshop hosted by Euo-Par, the prime
European conference covering all aspects of parallel and distributed
processing. The workshop aims to create a meeting point between the
communities of physicists (and, in general, of researchers from the
natural sciences) and computer scientists who deal with computational
problems and high-performance computing. Such a meeting is a stimulating
opportunity for both communities to advance disciplinary knowledge thanks
to sharing experiences, needs and original solutions. New scientific
collaborations and opportunities for international research projects may
be started.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Emerging and high-performance computing in complex systems modelling
and simulation using FDM, PIC, Cellular Automata and other methods
- High-performance technologies, such as MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, and Sycl, for
  scientific applications
- Hardware approaches (e.g., FPGAs, Neuromorphic computing) of
high-performance computing in modeling and simulation
- Optimization algorithms related to parallel simulation of scientific
applications, such as synchronization, load balancing, coarse grain
  optimization
- Performance models and their integration into the design of efficient
  parallel algorithms for heterogeneous platforms
- High-performance software libraries for scientific applications (Blas,
ScaLAPACK, MAGMA, Plasma, GROMACS, Quantum Espresso, Yambo)
- Simulation of quantum systems in HPC and quantum computing, quantum
  reservoir computing
- Many-body systems
- Computational chemistry and quantum chemistry
- High-performance simulation of fluids and plasma

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Authors are encouraged to submit unpublished, original research or
critical reviews on algorithms, models, and tools that are of interest to
the workshop, emphasizing original solutions and open issues.

- Submissions can be in the form of full paper (10-12 pages),
short paper (5-9 pages) or abstract (100-500 words).

- Papers must be formatted in the Springer LNCS style:
  https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines
and submitted in PDF format using the EasyChair link:
  https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=europar24-ws-phd-poster-whpc

PRESENTATIONS
For each accepted contribution, at least one author must register for the
conference and present their work in person.

- A talk is 20 minutes, including 5 minutes of questions.

- Authors can express a preference for a poster presentation by sending a
message to the contact below on this page with the subject
“PHYSHPC 2024 poster preference” and details such as the title of the
contribution and the author list. Depending on the requests, a poster session
  will be scheduled.

BEST PAPER AWARD
The best contribution will receive the best paper award.

PROCEEDINGS
Accepted full papers will appear in a special volume of the Euro-Par 2024 LNCS proceedings.
