Book Series Title: Contemporary Literary Studies on Language and Literature
Publisher: HJ Verlag Maurer – Maurer Press, Frankfurt, Germany Website: www.maurer.press We are delighted to invite contributions for the upcoming third volume of our book series, Contemporary Literary Studies on Language and Literature. This volume turns its focus to postcolonial approaches in literary studies, bringing together scholarship that explores the cultural, political, and historical dimensions of literature shaped by colonial encounters and their legacies. Our aim is to create a space for dialogue that reflects the diversity of postcolonial experiences and perspectives. We welcome contributions that examine how literature engages with issues of race, migration, identity, language, hybridity, resistance, and the afterlives of empire. Studies may also explore how postcolonial perspectives intersect with gender, class, ecology, and other critical frameworks. We encourage submissions across genres—novels, poetry, drama, life writing, oral traditions, and experimental forms—as well as comparative and interdisciplinary studies. Submissions are invited in English, German, Turkish, and Azerbaijani. Possible Areas of Inquiry (not exhaustive): • Postcolonial Narratives of Resistance: How literature challenges colonial authority, reclaims agency, and imagines alternative futures. • Memory, Trauma, and Identity: Literary engagements with slavery, displacement, migration, diaspora, and the politics of remembering. • Language and Power: The role of translation, bilingualism, and linguistic hybridity in postcolonial writing. • Reimagining the Canon: Rereading classical or colonial texts from a postcolonial perspective and recovering marginalized voices. • Postcolonial Ecologies: Exploring environmental justice, resource exploitation, and indigenous ecological knowledge within postcolonial contexts. • Globalization and Neocolonialism: How contemporary literatures address new forms of domination and inequality in a globalized world. • Intersectional Postcolonialism: Considering the overlaps of postcolonial studies with feminism, queer studies, disability studies, and critical race theory. Other relevant approaches to postcolonial literary studies are also welcome.
