This symposium will explore how data and artificial intelligence are setting the stage for the digital revolution and contributing to solving societal challenges. SAIDD 2023 will bring together prominent researchers, policy experts, and practitioners across artificial intelligence, big data and a range of application domains including, but are not limited to public safety and social cybersecurity, elderly care, and farming and food.

If you are interested in participating in the symposium, we encourage you to submit papers in the following two categories, before the deadline:
• Position papers describing open problems or neglected perspectives on the field, proposing ideas for bringing computational methods into a new application area, or summarizing the focus areas of a group working on AI to address societal challenges. Papers in this category should be at most 3 pages, with additional 2 pages for only references.
• 5-minute ‘lightning talks’ present bite-sized bits of science that showcase the essence of your research. They are opportunities for young researchers to introduce their work and to share areas of ongoing and emerging focus. Papers in this category should be only 1 page, with additional 1 page containing only references.

All papers must be prepared using the template. All submissions will be reviewed by two expert reviewers from the symposium committee. Presenters will be selected and invited for the SAIDD 2023 on the basis of the information provided in the position papers and the lightning talks papers submitted.
Selected position papers and lightning talks will be compiled in a proceedings volume, edited and published as a Symposium booklet. Authors will be given the opportunity to publish an extended version of their presented paper in an open access CEUR-WS proceedings volume.
All position papers and 5-minute ‘lightning talks’ submissions must be made electronically in PDF format through the SAIDD 2023 EasyChair submission system on or before 27 January 2023.
