The 1st International Conference on the Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence Applications
Mai 2-3, 2023, Ouargla - Algeria CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a subfield of computer science that offers techniques that enable machines to perform sophisticated communication, learning, and problem-solving activities in the manner of the human mind. Humans use different languages to communicate and exchange information orally and in writing. Human languages have benefited from the applications of artificial intelligence with automatic language processing, which is concerned with processing natural languages as they are spoken and written. This interdisciplinary field requires linguistic and computational competencies, through which the researchers use computer and programming skills to deal with linguistic phenomena. One of the key challenges of artificial intelligence is to automatically process natural language data to extract insights or make decisions quickly and efficiently. Human language is characterized by ambiguity, which makes it very difficult to develop software that determines the intended meaning of text or voice. Compared with the world’s various languages, Arabic is more challenging due to its complex and rich morphology, high ambiguity level, and variety of dialects that differ considerably. The ICALAIA’2023 international conference aims to provide academics, researchers, and university students with exceptional opportunities to share their research accomplishments and build new collaborations and relationships with Artificial Intelligence and Computational Linguistics specialists. We invite authors to contribute to the conference by submitting high-quality papers describing original, unpublished research findings and surveying works. All papers will be reviewed by an international program committee and evaluated based on their originality, quality, and relevance to the conference topics. TRACKS AND TOPICS: Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Track 1. Artificial Intelligence and Arabic Language Processing • Arabic text classification: sentiment analysis, hate speech and offensive language detection, fake news detection, intent detection, dialect detection, etc. • Information extraction from Arabic text: summarization, tokenization, named entity recognition, topic modeling, question answering, etc. • Arabic text generation and transformation: Machine translation, text generation, and paraphrasing. • Semantic representation for Arabic NLP: ontologies and knowledge graphs. • Arabic speech processing: speech recognition, speaker recognition, emotion recognition, dialect identification, speech synthesis, etc. • Arabic writing image processing: handwriting recognition, Arabic optical character recognition, Arabic calligraphy style recognition, etc. • Linguistic resources for Arabic NLP: written or spoken dictionaries, corpora, etc. • AI Issues Specific to the Arabic language: Diacritization, morphological, phonological, grammatical and semantic analysis, Arabizi identification, etc. Track 2. Computational Linguistics • Problems encountered in the automated processing of Arabic texts (translation, sentiment analysis, identification of the meaning of the text, etc.). • Problems facing machine learning in texts written in Arabic dialects. • Problems in the learning and teaching processes for native and non-native Arabic speakers (teacher, learner, means, content, curriculum, etc.). • Dealing with linguistic levels in the automatic processing of Arabic(morphological, grammatical, and semantic analyzers) and the problems they pose. • Problems posed by automatic processing of images containing Arabic texts. • The production of dictionaries in light of AI theories and the most important difficulties. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Track 1.
