Successfully managing large enterprises is a complicated and challenging process. There are several factors that directly impact large scale enterprise management and cannot take place in isolation: Business Modeling, Information Systems and Data Mining are certainly among the most important ones.
Successful enterprises need a flexible business model able to address ever changing business targets and to incorporate new strategies. A solid business model needs to be backed by a flexible information system that is able to track and collect data for new business processes incorporated by the business model. The discrepancies between the business model and the corresponding information system are very costly. To this extend, organizations face challenges related to costs, increasing complexity of the information systems, constant change of the implementation technologies, and middleware environments. This is the point where data mining and optimization techniques are used to improve information flows and to provide smooth functioning of modern enterprises. Such techniques are capable to handle a large amount of data to find potential bottlenecks slowing down the business process. This conference aims at gathering these three important pillars of modern enterprises. Our goal is to collect contributions addressing important problems and cutting edge solutions. The intersection of these three important directions: Business Modeling, Information Systems and Data Mining, is a new research area with the promise of significantly improving enterprise management.
