We are hosting The International Conference on Augmented Fashion (ICAF 2022) on the 16th – 18th of November 2022. We have teamed up with MDPI Sustainability (Impact Factor: 3.251) for a Special Issue, selected papers will be recommended for publishing in this journal.
Please find detailed information at: https://augmentedfashion.co.uk/icaf-2022 and below, Call for Papers/Call for Contributions - The International Conference on Augmented Fashion: ICAF 2022 16th – 18th November 2022 Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK Donghua University, Shanghai, China Location: - Due to the project being funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, UK Research and Innovation, the conference will be held in Aberdeen, Scotland, with no registration fees. - Virtual for presentations - On location for exhibition and selected workshops (RGU, DHU) This international conference is organised by Augmented Fashion, a multidisciplinary research project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, UKRI. The research team is formed across Computing, Fashion and Textiles between Robert Gordon University, UK and Donghua University, China. The project facilitates interdisciplinary cultural knowledge exchange opportunities between academia and industry partners in the creative industries across the UK and China to bridge digital skills gaps and encourage innovative practice. Specifically, Augmented Fashion seeks to educate the consumer about the craftsmanship, heritage, value and sustainability of traditional fashion and textile products, using a variety of media, such as immersive technologies and Human- Computer Interactive (HCI) applications, to interact and engage with new generations of audiences and consumers. Fashion has embraced technology, with Immersive Technologies increasingly being used as powerful digital tools to create interactive consumer experiences to market designs. Given these recent technological developments, it is timely to reflect on their potential purpose within the context of a more sustainable global fashion and textile industry. The International Conference on Augmented Fashion (ICAF 2022) invites submissions from established and early career researchers, postgraduates, industry, designers and educators regarding completed projects or work in progress. The conference provides a forum for the dissemination of research and creative practice surrounding fashion, textiles and immersive technologies. Submissions are encouraged that discuss, challenge and provoke debate in connection to one or more of the following themes: Augmented Reality in Fashion and Textiles: Augmenting physical resources, materiality and processes, technological innovations in production and supply chain, wearable technologies, 3D printing. Augmented digital resources, the intersection between the virtual and the real, fashion apps, mobile technologies for fashion, layering the virtual and the real, virtual try-on. Virtual Reality in Fashion and Textiles: Digital fashion design, digital technologies for fashion, fashion in the metaverse, creating value in virtual fashion, NFTs and blockchain for fashion, avatars and 3D modelling, the sustainability of immateriality and virtual events. Sustainability and Immersive Technologies: Immersive technologies in relation to driving sustainability within the fashion and textile industry , circular fashion and textile design digital interventions, the relationship between the virtual and the real: driving empathy through immersive technologies, the circular economy and augmented or virtual initiatives. Sustainable digital futures for the fashion industry: repair, re-wear, virtual wear, degrowth fashion. Slow Fashion and Immersive Technologies: Hand making, tacit knowledge, contemporary textile skills and craft, artisan skills, the value of intangible cultural heritages and digital representation, the hybridization of hand and immersive technologies, the intersections between materials and immateriality, the relationship between the augmented and the authentic, the virtual artefacts and the hand made object, immersive technologies and glocalisation. Fashion, Textiles and HCI: Human-computer Interactive (HCI) applications for fashion and textiles, motion capture and/or motion detection in fashion and textiles, interactive projection and mapping, the gamification of fashion, accessibility and skills challenges in fashion and textile computer applications, new models of consumer interaction through digital interfaces. Submissions Contributors can select from the following formats: Full paper: 20-minute conference presentation Short paper: 10-minute conference presentation Poster: Digital file Exhibit: Physical or digital examples of practice-based work, please discuss preferences with conference organiser.
