Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SİU) is one of the most prominent scientific events in Turkey. During the conference, researchers share their novel contributions to scientific and technological development.
It is the first special session on 'Computational Social Science' in that conference. About the special session: The digital bread crumbs we leave behind in our digital world have emerged by measuring human nature on a larger scale and with precision than ever before. This new branch is an interdisciplinary field and covers both computer science and social sciences. It is a field that emerges with the application of problems that are the subject of social sciences, techniques such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, mixed network analysis used in computer science, on large datasets. The purpose of this session is to share approaches, technologies and scientific research in the rapidly growing field of computational social sciences. Our special session will include, but not limited to, studies on the following topics: Big data sources used in this field and social studies using these sources i.e. - socio-economic estimation with various sources, - understanding hate speech from social media posts, - mobility and Covid, - ai ethics, - network analysis, - social good initiatives arised from data. We expect that the authors upload at most four pages of their research papers to SİU2022 web site, following the publication guidelines. After the evaluation of referees, Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. We invite all researchers working in this fields to submit their original work, preferably in Turkish, in person, and come together in Safranbolu, Turkey. Also, an on-line conference platform will be available for distant presentations if your attendance is not possible.
