AIMS AND SCOPE OF IEPCE SPECIAL SESSION --------------------------------------- The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the development of e-learning and the evolution of education. Multiple online, blended, and hybrid delivery modes have become the norm, with wide-ranging resources being allocated and infrastructure being established to enable learners to access online learning activities and promote instructor-learner and learner-learner interaction when learning online. With greater accessibility to e-learning, there is a clear route for the next generation of e-learners. In the post COVID-19 era, one can expect an increasing need for pedagogically sound and adaptive e-learning environments with high capacity and maneuverability to supplement the resumed learning after the pandemic. In the near future, the integration of information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and gamification into instruction and learning will be further enhanced, making e-learning a vital component of school learning. Traditional offline learning and e-learning would go hand in hand, improving the learning experiences for learners of all ages. This special session, Intelligent E-learning at Post-COVID19 Era (IEPCE), aims to discuss the development and implementation of intelligent e-learning models with high scalability and adaptability in the post-COVID era. We also call on investigating e-learning adaptation and learning environment optimization for effective and rapid response to future pandemics like the COVID19 pandemic. Topics of interest in the special issue of IEPCE include but are not limited to the following: AI, AR/VR, and gamification for intelligent e-learning. Online education in the post COVID-19 era. MOOC’s innovative development in the post-COVID-19 era. Deep neural networks for smart e-learning. Hybrid or blended e-learning. Teaching and learning evaluation in the post COVID-19 era. Integration of offline learning and e-learning in the post COVID-19 era. Technology proficiency development. Scalable and easily adaptable e-learning models. Collaborative and inclusive e-learning. Student modeling for intelligent e-learning. Challenges and opportunities for e-learning in the post COVID-19 era. E-learning adaptation and optimization to unexpected crises. REVIEW PROCESS AND INDEX -------------------------- Each paper will be reviewed by at least two programme committee members, and final decisions are given by the guest editorial board based on the scores given by the reviewers of this special issue. Submissions to accepted special sessions will be 6 pages in IEEE two-column style. The page count above excludes the references. All papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee on the basis of technical quality, relevance to BESC 2022, originality, significance and clarity. Please note: All Special Session paper submissions should use IEEE two-column style. Templates are available from http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html. All Special Session papers must be submitted electronically through the paper submission system in PDF format only. Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings. Papers must be clearly submitted in English and will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present the work. Paper submission system is available at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=besc2022 All accepted papers will be included in IEEE Xplore and indexed by EI. Top-quality papers after presented in the conference will be selected for extension and publication in several special issues of international journals, e.g., World Wide Web Journal (Springer), Web Intelligence, and Social Network Analysis and Mining (Springer) LIST OF SPECIAL SESSION CHAIR ----------------------------- General Chair Xieling Chen, The Education University of Hong Kong Technical Programme Co-Chairs Zongxi Li, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong Guangliang Chen, Monash University, Australia Wei Chen, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Steering Committee Co-Chairs Gary Cheng, The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Tak-Lam Wong, Douglas College, Canada Haoran Xie, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Di Zou, The Education University of Hong Kong Honorary Co-Chairs Gwo-Jen Hwang, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Fu Lee Wang, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong Program Committee Members Sudeng Hu, Apple Inc., USA Xudong Mao, Sun Yat-sen University, China Yanghui Rao, Sun Yat-sen University, China Tao Wang, Southampton University, UK Qingyuan Wu, Beijing Normal University, China Bishenghui Tao, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau Yalin Liu, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau Han Zhang, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Su Fan, The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Ruofei Zhang, The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong CONTACTS ------------- All inquiries about the conference, including submissions, can be directed to the organising committee: ieee.besc@gmail.com and zongxili2@gmail.com |
