Special issue of Information & Security: An International Journal (I&S)
http://dx.doi.org/10.11610/isij Submission deadline for full text papers: 10 October 2013 Anticipated publication: December 2013 Editor: Dr. Philipp Fluri, Deputy Director, Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces Evolving security threats pose new requirements to intelligence approaches and capabilities, while technological developments provide opportunities to both friend and foe. Intelligence and security services try to capitalize on accessible technologies and to increase their reach, speed and depth of knowledge on actual and potential adversaries, while protecting their information, sources, and capabilities. The nature of intelligence, along with the high level of sensitivity, pose significant challenges to the governance of intelligence and security services, including democratic parliamentarian and executive oversight, transparency, accountability, and protection of citizens’ rights.
