Call For Papers

BC Political Studies Association 2020 Annual Conference, Oct 16-17, 2020

Theme: Politics and Anti-Politics

BCPSA 2020 aims to engage in an academic debate addressing such questions, such as:
- Will recent disruptions cause radical shifts in the way we think about politics and the role of the state?
- How do these disruptions change the socio-economic structure, and ultimately how do they change our democratic lives?

A broad interpretation of the conference theme is encouraged, focusing on the changing nature of politics at various levels–local, provincial, regional, national and international–as well as from different perspectives. Of course, the BCPSA is open to proposals on other topics and, in keeping with the spirit of reconciliation, particularly proposals from Indigenous perspectives.

Participation is open to all political scientists and other scholars who are interested in current political issues.

Conference organizers welcome proposals from both graduate and advanced undergraduate students, as well as mixed student-faculty panels. See the BCPSA website for details on student presentations.

Proposals should include a 250 word summary of your paper, panel or roundtable proposal outlining the argument, method of analysis and significance of the topic.

Please use the the Proposal Forms on BCPSA.CA and submit the completed proposal form to: Dr. Linda Elmose: lelmose@okanagan.bc.ca

Proposals should be received by September 14th, 2020 and accepted papers should be submitted by October 7th, 2020. Participants are encouraged to submit completed papers to be considered for publication to the Canadian Review of Political Science.

Looking forward to your participation!

The British Columbia Political Studies Association is grateful to Okanagan College for support to hold these meeting and to the Sylix Nation for the use of Unceded Sylix Territory for these purposes.
