Call for Posters
We invite you to submit posters for the 2nd conference on “Caring discourse: Conceptual, ethical and practical challenges to the shared decision-making paradigm”. Under the broad label ‘Caring discourse’, this year’s conference will focus specifically on the shared decision-making paradigm, to discuss current conceptual, ethical and empirical challenges. We are particularly interested in posters on this specific theme; however, posters on any topic related to communication in healthcare, encompassing various disciplines (such as psychology, social sciences, linguistics, philosophy, communication, education, etc.) are also welcome. While welcoming submissions from participants across the career span, we would like to encourage the submission of posters especially from postgraduate researchers (Masters, Doctoral and Post-doctoral researchers). Post-doctoral researchers must be in the early stages of their career (no more than 5 years since PhD completion). A panel of judges will evaluate the posters along two basic criteria – scientific content and presentation style – and will decide on the “Best Poster Award”. Deadline for Submission: 30 April 2020 Notification of Acceptance: 15 May 2020 *Update (16/03/2020):* The deadline to submit abstracts for the 2nd Conference on "Caring discourse: Conceptual, ethical and practical challenges to the shared decision-making paradigm" has been extended to Abril 30th, 2020. Notifications of acceptance will be communicated within May 15th, 2020. We are aware that we are experiencing a period of great concerns due to the expansion of the COVID-19. We are taking more time to receive your submissions also because we want to leave open the possibility to hold the 2nd Conference on Caring discourse next June, as planned. We are also evaluating the possibility to go online if this will be the best way to preserve the safety of all us and our societies. And this is why we ask you to continue to send us your abstract for the poster session because we could plan to move everything online. We will keep you updated, so please check out periodically our website: www.metacare.fcsh.unl.pt Everyone's effort is required at this moment. And we all need to reflect more on the actions we take in our daily lives: to protect ourselves and the others, especially the groups at risk. We can all do something, no matter how small, to support our society and the sustainability of our health systems.
