CALL FOR PAPERS
We are proud to announce the 11th Nordic Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, NordiCHI 2020, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia on October 25- 29, 2020.

The biannual NordiCHI conference is the main Nordic forum for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research. NordiCHI addresses the field in a broad sense and is a meeting place for researchers from academia and industry, designers, practitioners, educators and others working within HCI and related disciplines. NordiCHI is organized in cooperation with ACM SIGCHI.

Submission deadlines
- April 20th -
Submission deadline for research papers (of variable length, 4-10 pages). All research papers, previously submitted in two categories, long and short, are now in the same category. We are soliciting papers of variable length, from 4-10 pages, excluding references. Authors are encouraged to submit papers whose length is proportional to their contributions.

- May 11th -
Deadline for all other types of submissions: work in progress papers, posters, demos, design cases, future scenarios, practitioners & industry experiences, workshops, tutorials, and doctoral colloquium.

- June 18th -
Notifications sent

- September 7th -
Camera ready deadline for all types of submissions: research papers, posters, demos, design cases, future scenarios, practitioners & industry experiences, workshops, tutorials, and doctoral colloquium.

NordiCHI 2020 THEME

The theme of NordiCHI 2020 is “shaping experiences, shaping society” and our goal is to raise awareness about the effect we have on society through the experiences we enable, facilitate or craft. Yes, it is the old discussion of the butterfly effect but it’s also the old but ever more relevant discussion about carefully reflecting upon the consequences of our practices.

Besides allowing us to revisit the notions of micro, macro and even mega HCI, conceptualizing our field as layers in successive degrees of specialization and scope, we believe that the theme is the right one for Estonia. Named by some the first digital country and by others the most advanced digital society in the world, Estonia bypassed what some argue would have been, and still is, a much-needed discussion about what it all means, when reasoning beyond efficiency and convenience.

In other words, it's important to realize that Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu, using African wisdom. What goes around, comes around so, when it comes to designing the technological world around us, it’s paramount to promote, if not demand, public ethical reasoning by the shapers of our lived experiences, by the shapers of our society.
We hope to see such concerns approached in workshops, addressed by the keynotes, reflected upon in papers, and explored in case studies.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

NordiCHI 2020 invites original papers that move the field of human-computer interaction forward, be it through the advance of theory, methodology, or practice. We invite submissions of high international standard, presenting original work that significantly contributes to research and practice of Human-Computer Interaction in its broadest sense. Papers should be anonymized and formatted according to ACM SIGCHI papers format. Please note that the deadlines are firm and will not be extended. The papers are peer-reviewed in a double-blind review process. Some submission categories will be reviewed by a jury of peers. Authors must present accepted papers at the NordiCHI 2020 Conference, and register for the conference for at least one day. Accepted manuscripts appear in the Proceedings of NordiCHI 2020, which will be published in the ACM Digital Library.
