Call for Proposals:
The Writefest Scholarship & Lore Track At Writefest, we have always been interested in the dissolution of boundaries: between genre fiction and literary fiction, between emerging writers and established writers, and now, in 2020, between scholars, commercial writers, and readers. To this end, we are pleased to announce that Writefest will include a new scholarship track in 2020, with the purpose of showcasing scholarship in contemporary literature, both realistic and fantastic. It's our hope that this track will provide a forum for academic discussion among the creators of literature and those who study it, and we're excited to offer an opportunity for writers to see literature through a unique lens: that of scholars, the most dedicated of readers. We are now accepting proposals for the 2020 Writefest conference on the subject of cross-genre literature, including but not limited to the following: Slipstream Magical realism Hybrid literature Experimental forms The transposition of SFF (science fiction and fantasy) in contemporary literature. Potential formats might include paper presentations, with or without visual aids, groups of presentations submitted together as panels, or discussion-based roundtables centered around scholarly research. The deadline for submitting proposals is Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 5 PM CST. Selected presenters will be notified by the end of March.
