CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Session on Automation Systems and Critical Infrastructures WFCS 2020 - 16th IEEE International Conference on Factory Communication Systems 27-29 April 2020, Porto, Portugal https://www.cister-labs.pt/wfcs2020 SCOPE This special session focuses on the topics of automation systems and critical infrastructures, with a special focus on automation protocols and supporting computing and communications infrastructures. With the emergence of 5G and the Industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) paradigm, is expected that the next generation of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) to expand well beyond the monolithic and self-contained premises model, deployed on geographically constrained spaces under the responsibility of a single operator. As a result, IACS will also evolve towards becoming multi-tenant and distributed structures involving several domains, such as cloud, edge, telecommunications infrastructure and utility providers. In this perspective, the current breed of IACS has to be improved with new tools and techniques, able to address the communications, security, scalability and reliability needs of heavily dispersed IACS. This session intends to address the relevant aspects that are involved in such domains. Currently, WFCS is the largest IEEE conference especially dedicated to communications for (industrial) automation systems. Its aim is to provide a forum for researchers, developers and practitioners to review and discuss most recent trends in the area and share innovative research directions. All papers of the Special Session will go through the regular paper submission process of WFCS, using the following link: https://www.cister-labs.pt/wfcs2020/submit For this Special Session, we are seeking submissions of technical papers in the following related areas: -Automation technologies such as SCADA systems for civilian and military uses; -5G and edge-computing for distributed automation environments; -Virtualization and multi-tenancy for communications and computing infrastructures; -Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and network infrastructure security for IACS; -Security (auditing, protection, reaction) for IACS; -Big data technologies and machine-learning approaches for IACS-based scenarios; -Forensics and auditing techniques for IACS; -Risk and interdependency modeling for IACS; -Threat lifecycle and profiling analysis for IACS. IMPORTANT DEADLINES: Special Session papers submission deadline: 12 January 2020 Special Session papers notification: 2 March 2020 Special Session final versions deadline: 13 March 2020 Session chairs: Paulo Simões, Universidade de Coimbra, PT Tiago Cruz, Universidade de Coimbra, PT Leandros Maglaras, De Montfort University, UK |
