Call For Papers

The 2011 IEEE Multi-Conference on Systems and Control will be held in the Rocky Mountains Region, in Denver, Colorado, on September 28 - 30, 2011. MSC 2011 includes three International Conferences sponsored and promoted by the IEEE Control Systems Society:

* The IEEE Conference on Control Applications (CCA)
* The IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control (ISIC)
* The Joint Symposium on Computer-Aided Control System Design (CACSD) and Systems with Uncertainty (SU).

MSC 2011 aims at bringing together under a unique forum different groups of qualified scientists, engineers, researchers and practitioners from Academia, Industry, the Federal Governemnt, Federal Laboratories, funding agencies, and representatives of other national and international organizations, to discuss the state-of-the-art and future directions in advanced control technology and applications, intelligent systems, computational intelligence, computational methods for control system design, handling and incorporating uncertainty in system design and control, and novel and cutting edge technologies as applied to complex systems.

MSC 2011 will feature several kinds of presentations including contributed and invited papers, special sessions, a session dedicated to undergraduate control and mechatronic systems education, Tutorials and Workshops, and a joint NSF/EU panel to discuss current and future challenges in control systems and control systems technology, as well as research initiatives and funding opportunities. Novel features of MSC 2011 will be: i.) an open industrial forum where industry representatives will discuss relevant problems that need be solved in order to improve system performance, and, ii.) special/invited sessions jointly organized with other IEEE Societies - SMC, Robotics & Automation, Computational Intelligence - coordinated by the Chair of the Technical Committee on Intelligent Control (TCIC), Kevin L. Moore.

Through keynote addresses, invited and solicited presentations, it is expected that the outcome of MSC 2011 will be a much better understanding of what Academia and Industry are doing, and what civilian, military, national and international authorities need.

MSC 2011 will be a three-day event, preceeded by a full day of Tutorials and Workshops. The conference proceedings will be included in IEEE Xplore and indexed by INSPEC and Ei-Compendex.

Paper Submission
Papers submitted to MSC 2011 must be original, not previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Submitted papers must not be submitted to any other event or publication during the entire review process. IEEE policy regarding plagiarism and duplicate submission/publication will be strictly enforced. Papers must be submitted electronically by the submission deadline through the IEEE CSS conference management system PaperPlaza at http://css.paperplaza.net/.
Paper submissions should follow the IEEE double-column format for conferences (templates will be available on the conference Web site). A maximum of 8 pages including all figures and references are allowed for each paper. Papers in excess of page limits shall not be considered for review or publication. Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process, coordinated by the Program Committee. Submission of a paper implies that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors must register and attend the conference to present the work.

Special/Invited Session Proposals
Proposals should be submitted by e-mail to the respective Program Chairs by the due date.
A special/invited session proposal should contain the session organizer(s) short bio and contact information, the special session title, summary, and objectives, and the list of authors and papers to be included in the session. However, papers must be submitted electronically in final form by the due date, stating on the front page the special session title. Special/invited session papers will follow the standard peer review process.
Workshop and Tutorial Proposals
A Workshop/Tutorial proposal should focus on a specific theme related to the main conference topics, describing objectives and expected outcomes.
The tutorial proposal should contain the tutorial summary and outline and the presenter's short bio and contact information. The workshop propoposal should include the workshop chair(s) short bio and contact information, and the list of speakers. Proposals should be sent by e-mail to the Tutorial and Workshop Chair. Workshop/Tutorial proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the committee members.
