Higher Education Learning Methodologies and Technologies Online

HELMeTO 2021 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working in Higher Distance Education Institutions or studying Online Learning Methodologies to present and share their research in a multidisciplinary context. The workshop is focused on all the relevant topics for online higher education and provides a forum for the discussion of new research directions and applications in these fields, where different disciplines could effectively meet.
The workshop will be organized by the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa and held at Centro Congressi “Le Benedettine”, on September 9-10, 2021.

Submission deadline of extended abstracts: March 31, 2021
Notification of acceptance of extended abstracts: May 15, 2021
Submission of REVISED extended abstract: May 30, 2021
Registration deadline for authors: June 10, 2021
Early registration deadline for non-authors: June 10, 2021
Workshop dates: September 9-10, 2021
Full Papers submission:
Submission deadline of full papers: July 31, 2021
Notification of acceptance of Full Papers: September 1, 2021
Camera ready submissions of accepted full papers: September 15, 2021

**** TOPICS ****

The workshop will include parallel sessions organized in two main tracks:
Online pedagogy and learning methodologies
Learning technologies, data analytics and educational big data mining as well as their applications
Additionally, as the Covid-19 pandemic has heavily impacted the world of higher education, a special track "Facing COVID19 Emergency in Higher Education Teaching" will be also arranged.

Moreover, a Call for Special Tracks is open for gathering proposals from the scientific community.

**** SUBMISSIONS: special tracks proposals ****

Special Tracks Proposals must be submitted to pietro.picerno@uniecampus.it by December 31, 2020. Program and Special Tracks Chairs will assess the proposal and send a notification by the end of January 2021.

**** SUBMISSIONS: extended abstracts ****

All submissions must be made electronically by March 31, 2021 through the online submission system EasyChair.
Contributions MUST be in English and should be submitted in the form of an abstract with references (max 4 pages).
The authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to present their work at the Workshop. The accepted abstracts will be available in a digital book of abstracts of the Workshop. Each accepted abstract must have at least one registered author by June 10, 2021.
The authors of the accepted contributions will be invited to submit an extended version of their work in the form of a final full paper (at least 12 pages comprising references). Full papers will undergo a second round of reviews. Accepted full papers, whose authors will have attended the workshop (at least one author), will be included, free of charge, in the workshop post-proceedings, published in Springer Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series, indexed in Scopus and other important indexing databases.

**** HELMeTO 2021 AWARD ****

A Scientific Committee will award one contribution relating to the methodological area and one for the technological area. The "Prize" is reserved for extended abstracts accepted at the HELMeTO 2021 conference. All accepted contributions are automatically candidated for the prize.
