About the conference
Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana organizes the International Scientific Conference entitled “Challenges and Opportunities of a Contemporary Economy in the Focus of Knowledge and Science”. The conference will take place on December 13 -14, 2019 and welcomes researchers from Albania, Western Balkans and beyond to present their findings, research and developmental activities with local experts as well as international scholarly community. It also provides an interdisciplinary forum for practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the fields of Management, Marketing and Tourism, Economics, Finance, Accounting, and how Information Technology is shaping these fields. All accepted and presented full papers will be published in the conference proceedings with ISBN, while extended and improved selected papers will be published at the “Albanian Journal of Economy and Business”, with ISSN 2219-1623.

Purpose of the conference

This conference has a threefold purpose. First, it aims to serve as a platform of discussion on the cutting-edge research of contemporary economy and its related fields. The conference will bring together researchers, scientists, PhD candidates, etc., to present results of their research related to various topics of economy, that are further elaborated in the upcoming sections.

Second, this conference aims to build bridges of communication between researchers and practitioners whose occupation is at different sectors of economy and science but at the end, all are interested to improve several aspects of economy and its related fields. In this regard, all conference topics listed in the following sections fall under Albanian’s priorities of economic development which include: macroeconomic development, sound policies that foster the SME-s development, innovation and start-ups and effective strategies to formalize the economy.

Last, this conference seeks to provide opportunities to young researches looking at different ways of collaboration and networking with other participants.

Submission Guidelines
Each participant is allowed to submit two papers at a maximum, with the obligation that at one paper could be first author while on the other paper to be co-author (second, third, etc.).

​- 70 Euro per paper - Participants from academic and scientific-research institutions, business sector, government sector, public administration, chambers of commerce and others.

- 50 Euro per paper - Postgraduate students and PhD students.

Registration fee includes: publication of paper in a conference proceedings and conference proceedings, participation in all conference sessions for co/authors, refreshments during breaks and other organizational costs. Besides the conference registration fee, there are no any additional hidden conference and/or publication costs.

Payment of the registration fee should be made using the instructions for bank transfer that will be provided from the Organizing Committee. Important note: When executing the payment, please add as a description the following: “Payment for the Conference entitled “Challenges and Opportunities of a Contemporary Economy in the Focus of Knowledge and Science”, with the Conference Track of “_______”.

Conference tracks and topics
All parallel and plenary sessions address different aspects of challenges and opportunities of a contemporary economy. We have organized the aspects in different thematic tracks in order to make it easier for each conference participants to find the presentations that are interesting for him or her. Important note: When submitting, please indicate in the subject of your email, the conference track (Management, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Accounting or, Information Technology). In the attached document, please provide author/s name/s, their affiliation, along with their contact details.

November 1st, 2019 - deadline of full paper submission. Authors will be notified by email if their paper is accepted, by November 20th, 2019.

December 1st, 2019 – deadline for registration fee payment.

December 9th, 2019 – announcement of conference agenda.

December 13th – 14th, 2019 – main conference

January 20th, 2020 - deadline for final paper submission (final full paper submission is mandatory as the conference proceedings will publish full version of papers). All participants should respect the conference guidelines for paper format and content that can be found at conference site.

Venue
The conference will be held in Tirana, Albania. Further information about the venue will be updated soon.
