CALL FOR PAPERS
========================================== Supercomputing Education: Thinking in Parallel Journal: The Journal of Supercomputing JCR Impact Factor (2018): 2.157 Publisher: Springer https://www.springer.com/journal/11227/updates/17392166 Guest editors Dr. Vicente Matellán Olivera Affiliation: Centro de Supercomputación Castilla y León E-mail: vicente.matellan@scayle.es Dr. José Luis González Sánchez Affiliation: Centro de Supercomputación de Extremadura E-mail: joseluis.gonzalez@cenits.es Description of Special Issue The use of Supercomputing is wide spreading, constituting an essential component in many fields of science. The demand of training on supercomputing increases continuously. “Thinking in Parallel” was one of the topics of the TEEM Conference, held in León (Spain) in October 2019. The special issue will be focused on the issues discussed in that conference, in particular on factors that have to be taken into account for improving training in Supercomputing, to identify the limitations of Supercomputing training, and to provide solutions for these limitations. Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the Special Issue. Papers extending previously published conference papers are acceptable, as long as the journal submission provides a significant contribution beyond the conference paper, and the overlap is described clearly at the beginning of the journal submission. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation, by at least three independent reviewers. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Topics Topics of interest are experiences and tools to facilitate the parallelization of existing code, tools for training of researchers and professionals with non-IT backgrounds on the use of supercomputing facilities, recycling of IT professional for the HPC ecosystem, learning methodologies, tools and experiences for training of computer science students in parallel programming, and evaluation of the learning process. Some of these topics are: Education in Supercomputing HPC for learning analytics Supercomputing for education Educating non-IT researchers in HPC Parallel programming teaching Deadline Submission deadline for the special issue is January 13th 2020. Submission guidelines • Submit manuscripts to: http://SUPE.edmgr.com Select “SI: Supercomputing Education: Thinking in Parallel” as the article type when submitting. • Papers must be prepared in accordance with the Journal guidelines: www.springer.com/11227 • Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality, original work that has neither appeared in, nor is under consideration by other journals. • All papers will be reviewed following standard reviewing procedures for the Journal. |
